I like your editing more than composition, but that's not to say that they're bad, they could be a lot better. eg. longer exposure for the reflection on the water. I understand if you didn't have an ND filter or something so no worries.
I like hikes, I did the HIlary trail a couple months back, going down south to do more in the snowy parts. (NZ)
what kit did you take to the hike?

And yeah I agree with the composition part. Disappointed by the amount of horizons on the center of the frame that I have.
I love the processing. It looks kinda late 70s.
Mind sharing your LR preset?
You should read a book on composition. These photos are absolutely trash. So sad!

>I like your editing more than composition
Came here to say this
Absolutely wonderful look on quite plain pictures
>>2857881
Dude don't even worry about horizons in the center. First really pay attention to what's in the frame and what's out of the frame. If doing so puts the horizon in the center so be it.
>>2857794
There's a bit too much foreground for how you composed. If you want to keep the foreground panning to the right and down a tad may have given a more dynamic composition. The image would have more pull from the bottom right through the water to the mountains in the top left. One tip I have is to adjust your perspective beyond the "norm" by getting higher/lower than typically possible. Climbing on top of that long in the foreground may have given way to some interesting compositions. Scenes higher/lower than typical perspective can be more interesting.
>>2857795
Pretty shot but that's about it. The ripples ruin it for me, but had you played with the composition and abstraction they produce you could have potentially used them to your advantage.
>>2857797
The rock in the foreground is super intrusive and unnecessary. The people in the background suck. Nice photo to remember the day by but it's doesn't have much photographic merit. Going down to hte water and using the shoreline to pull the eye through the frame to your friends walking a long the shore could have been neat. When I'm hiking with people I usually tell them to go ahead and I'll catch up. That's almost always when I've shot the best photos that include my hiking buddies.
>>2857799
Similar comments to the last picture. Standing on that log jutting into the water would have given you enough shift to the left to get all of your friends in the frame walking along the shore.

Too cluttered. You have the building on the right, some people in the middle at the trail notice board, and then people hanging around the lake with a sign in front of them in the foreground. To me that little sign in front of the people at the lake is a major bummer. Standing on those rocks next to it and shooting the people at the lake would have rid your composition of extraneous details.
Sorry if these comments are harsh. I like your editing and these definitely aren't terrible. If you want your compositions to be better you just need to slow down and put more thought into them. Try to mimic some of your favorite landscape photos. Where is this by the way? Looks stunning.
Hiking and shooting are my favorite activities. I'm picking up a crap-ton of developed rolls tomorrow that include a few hikes from the past summer until now. Here's some stuff from last summer...

Better editing on this, I absolutely love this. The framing of trees under the mountain at the right place.
Where are you hiking? Info pls
I just noticed that some of these photos are taken at higher ISO than 100 while it's bright outside with high shutter speeds. Why not lower the shutter speed and get more sharpness?
I wish I had such beautiful nature around here desu. The Netherlands suck hard if you like hiking
>>2858021
Those 3 are from North Cascade National Park in Washington State. Thanks omi! The light was pretty shit mid-day stuff so I tried using atmospheric haze to my advantage.
>>2857795
This would be better with the horizon dead centre , one third sky reflected in water, one third land and land reflected in water, one third sky.

The editing on these is amazing! At first, I thought it was film. Do you have a common theme in oyur editing process? They just look really nice, I dont know what it is... Anything you can share about your editing technique? Shot in RAW? Or in camera jpeg settings? Do you just eyeball the whitebalance, auto white balance, color card, adjust based on RGB color sampler?
how, man... HHHOOOWWW!?!?!?!!??
>>2858023
Because no time to adjust when you're moving fast. 400 is a "safe" all around when your environment changes rapidly
>>2858023
On a modern full frame sensor, something like ISO 400 will look absolutely no different quality wise than ISO 100. Especially at viewing sizes.

maybe one day he will need to upscale big for prints and will need the extra IQ. why do it halfassedly when you have a standard that strives for the best quality?

Why be a faggot on the internet staring at EXIF when you can be an awesome guy out in the world taking fun photos of great places and cool events?
The difference between 400 and 100 on the A7 is barely perceptible in a photo, especially after processing. Just enjoy the photos. Stop making up fake situations in which better technique might have mattered, and look at the photos as they are presented to you. Content. Mood. Emotion. Story.

Probably somewhat due to using older manual focused lenses with an adapter.

right, we should focus on what's important, like why isn't he shooting a D5
