Since this thread seems like its dying, what are some good rule of thumbs for casual portraits. I've got a cafe to shoot at in an hour and I'm thinking I go with sitting, standing and prop-involved shots. Comments?

The thread is enormously vague. You can't teach someone to be good at portraiture in a couple of posts in a thread on /p/. Lighting takes tons of practice. Posing is a lot of work (and has tons of books and videos and articles to help). Model direction comes down to personality, confidence, and solid understanding of the final image, as well as comprehensive visualization.

It's hard.
