What post-processing software should i be using? Lightroom? I've been using Darktable but i don't really like it.

Try out the whole gamut via their trial periods.
Lightroom, Capture One, etc.
then see which one you love the most.
Different strokes for different folks

If you shoot a lot - definitely.
If you want to do just a few shots, but want to postprocess all shit out of them - Photoshop+Camera RAW.

light room is great and you can find tons of info on it because its widely used, and you can get a subscription for it as a bundle w/ photoshop so thats nice, what don't you like about darktable anon? honestly if I didnt need to be running windows for other stuff I would switch back to darktable in a heartbeat.

I just felt like the options and interface was better in lightroom (for example it seemed nicer to do rotation like being able to make a line and it rotates so that is vertical). It also seemed like the image quality turns out worse but that could just be my laptop vs my desktop

also unsure of what image viewer to use, image viewer makes them look like trash.
So, I saved this one from "self thread", how to achieve this color tone and clarity? what should I stick for?

great photo, bump

that's really bad though. the shot is taken fairly well, speed light not too noticeable and decently exposed and it's sharpened fine but the reds and oranges in his face are horrible. needs to chill out on the speed light.

Just give it a VSCO preset and call it a day. But seriously, I think a cool WB, lowered saturation, raised blacks and some grain would do it.

VSCO
Basically everything on this blog follows the same general tone: http://envyavenue.tumblr.com/

Raise blacks, lower highlights. Give it a small "exposure".

Love this look
Literally VSCO the thread.
