You went to India for six months and this is what you got
Lol
Maybe that's just my taste but imo you should lower the contrast, pull down the highlights and lower the saturation a bit.
>>2807983
Spent 2 months in India, 3 weeks of which were spent doing nothing on the beach in Goa. Came back with around 40 shots I like, I'm satisfied.
>>2808013
The highlights are pulled all the way down in most of these shots, India has very contrasty light, the saturation has also been pulled right down and the vibrancy boosted to compensate.

Here's an example of what happens when you try and shoot in mid-day sun on the equator. This is completely untouched from the raw. The subject is still massively underexposed but where the sun touches it's pure white and far too visually distracting.

You're discussing exposure with the most notoriously obnoxious technician on the board. He once argued that a photo taken around 9pm should have been nearly pitch black, because you have to be accurate to the time of day, rather than caring about exposing your subject correctly. He also says that things in direct sunlight should be green, is red-green color blind, and makes up his own rules for how to take photos, regardless of their obvious flaws (as seen in his results). Just let him go, because you will gain no ground here.
You know what they say about playing chess against a pigeon .
>>2808702
Here's a fun fact, the Earth's axis is tilted against the sun, so the light in Bangor Maine in February is a lot different than the light in Bangor Maine in July (where it comes much closer to straight down)
>>2808706
In the summer, the UK takes light pretty much just as directly as the equator does.

Worked my way from trivandrum up the coast to Goa, couple of places in the western ghats but mainly on the coast.
I'd say go out there, but expect it to be filthy, expect the locals to be impoverished and desperate and underhanded, don't expect a decent meal - it's all bland, multi-cultural, 10 page long menus and if you ask what the chef is actually good at, expect to be told "everything". Shhh hush now. Your logic has no power here. Best to just let him talk to the corner of the room and feel like he's winning.
Even if he is right, a slight difference in the angle of the sun through 60 miles of more or less clear air isn't enough to dramatically affect photos. Everyone who saw him say it recognized it for what it was. It'll be okay.
>>2813941
Also, let's not forget that brighter light hitting a light colored surface like a light brown dirt road will also through brighter light to fill in shadows, keeping the contrast ratio more or less the same. It's fine. India is too bright for photos. It's a well documented problem. Nobody ever takes daylight photos there. This is actually true for anywhere on the equator. Tropical islands, bits of Africa, etc. We have no photos from those places in daylight because modern cameras can't account for the sheer power of the sun at such a steep angle.

>Man I wish I could find cool stuff like this out in the wild.

All in all, the landscapes are okay to good but the photos of the people are really, really bad mostly. You also don't seem to have any photos of interesting cultural places like places of worship or stepwells.
5/10 overall, would not hire for an international travel job, but Id probably follow your instagram and like photos occasionally.

Looks like good cc to me

whats not good about that cc? he's using harsh language, but he's also being direct on what he thinks should be improved
4chan vernacular and good cc arent mutually exclusive.
>Lost it at recommending a polarizer on a shot where reflections are a key element and suggesting the 2nd shot has "bad light"
hes right though. a low power polarization would help. you dont have to use a polarizer at its strongest point you know.
