This actually is a crop and the original had the floor but that would have meandering including clutter on the right and left which distracts from the two figures.

Light-wise I'm no gaffer but, maybe two spotlights with softboxes coming from the sides, and one underneath the counter for some misty atmosphere.

Composition-wise There's nothing interesting about a girl looking at her phone, a frustrated body language would do wonders to the picture, like if she was missing/waiting someone.

I'm a film student and my forte is not really cinematography so take my advice with a grain of salt .

Getting that much information in the right side took a lot of teasing, but I bet I could get more as my skills develop. Thanks for the tip!

The added context in this print did improve the image significantly, so I'm definitely encouraged to take it further.

This is ok, but should be cropped square.
I would also keep slightly more detail in the shadows in your edit, just to give it a little more depth. The clip to black is too abrupt. Shooting in slightly softer light would have been nice too.

You should have stopped down a lot further for this. Probably f16. The corner smearing is really prominent. If you didn't have a tripod however, I guess needs must.
The dutch angle is quite bad too.

But generally both of these have appeal to me as thumbnails, mainly because I take the same kinds of photos.

Assuming you know how to stack regular trails in PS, all you have to do is change the Fill Opacity of each layer. You divide 100 (100 represents the opacity) by the number of exposures stacked (layers). Say you have 50 layers, you would divide 100 by 50. So for each layer you change the Opacity level by 2%, so first layer is 2%, second layer 4%, third layer 6% etc.

Depending on whether you start from the top layer and work down or vice versa, determines which direction your trails fade off.
