Is Leica S a good first camera for my 11 year old daughter?
I plan to get her the camera and two lenses (24mm f/3.5 Super-Elmar-S and 100mm Summicron-S) to get started and maybe get her the 120mm APO-Macro-Summarit-S when she's more familiar with the camera.

I would recommend the new PhaseOne XF100MP. It's a bit heavier and more to handle than the Leica but I think that this will actually help your daughter since she will be less likely to drop it or mishandle it.
This is a stupid thread.

Is it now

Probably not.
Digital cameras are much better 'cause of the instant feedback and the fact that kids can "develop" their own pictures.
Never mind the much lower cost for the learning experience than what film causes.
