really impressed by the ef 50mm/1.8 and 18-55 STM and 50/1.8 II. the 700d body I got feels like a toy and has a tiny viewfinder window compared to my AE1P but otherwise works fine and produces great raws

Also, try photographing again after rubbing some chapstick on it with your finger. Something to make it a tad reflective.
Made the colours on a june beetle pop much more when I did it, of course it had a smooth shell and this bug is kind of lumpy.

the oldest barn I was able to find. There was another one when I visited the village 3 months ago, but they teared it down. This one is the only traditionally built one left: Half-timbered with slated roof and sometimes also walls. They used to exploit slate in the area and also found many fossils.

As a guitarist and photographer the first one, way better, not that it's good.
Reasons:
There's an area of interest framed in the picture, the second one only has the bridge pick up being there completely uninteresting.
DoF is greater in the first one, this makes the instrument stand out more, in the second one again, it's just the bridge pick up and nothing else... strings don't stand out, bridge could have been part of it but isn't, pickguard looks meh, the neck is sitting there but it's blurry and the bokeh isn't anything special.
If the finish of the first guitar is nice, I'd make it brighter, if it's just a chinese whatever then it's ok to mask a shitty wood layer.
Is it a filter or natural vignette? I'd go against filter and use a nicer background and lighting instead.

here is a tip for downscaling and preserving sharpness: When you downscale an image in PS, make sure that the resampling is set to "Bilinear" this preserves all the natural sharpness of a photo
i like the scale of the photo, but it would really be neat if you had more trees close and in the front to compliment that scale
