Nice, but as >>2709051 mentioned, when you enlarge the picture it gets bland. But I guess is not the subject, but the impression of depth, which is lost in the scale.

Seems like it is a nice scenery but the framing is very boring. If you taking a 'landscape' take, make it the classic way, horizontal-oriented, without obvious horizontal lines in the framing.

Again, explicit dominant horizontal lines make a landscape boring, even more on portrait-oriented framing. Also, the b/w processing is lacking depth: the black are muddy, the central portion of the curve is compressed, and the highlights lack detail. Try to elongated the central portion and the highlights, while keeping up with a smooth black point; and you will get more depth on your pictures.

Thanks for the help. I have to admit im having a hard time post processing, im shooting a Fuji Xpro1 and the tones are super muddy in Lightroom. I think it really shows in the black and whites.

this is what i meant. the han solo outfit damages the picture. i think of a woman with hair and sand in her mouth thinking about her future facebook likes, so the mood gets lost.

a dark figure and its long shadow would have worked better. maybe.

think about for a moment, horizontal lines breaks the pictures into thinner and wider segments. you'll see that dominant horizontal lines diminish the illusion of depth in any picture. it looks like stacking, instead of depth. this can be useful for street photography, for instance, where you can 'stack' two busy sceneries together. but, usually, it won't work well on landscape.

take a look at >>2709046 and compare it to >>2709047. on the first picture you get a intrusion of almost hexagonal silhouetted shape (the illuminated area over the black shadows) into the rectangular frame, which displaces your viewing and give you some depth; then this hexagonal is subdivided into somewhat triangular shapes (parking lines, sidewalk line, cliff line).
on the second pic, there's some a triangle on the bottom right, then a silhouetted triangle on left, and followed by many horizontal lines; all compressed by a very narrow rectangular frame.

none of this applies to 'subdominant' horizontal lines (such as train lines converging into the horizontal horizon) as it will give you some illusion of depth as well, a very fastidious one though.

Your style seems to try and provoke awe and wonder, but that's difficult to do with a 457x640 jaypeg.
I know people (including myself) complain about images being too large here, but these are too small to get a real sense of immersion.
