I wanna go so bad. There are a number of different programs where you can actually go and work at an outpost or science station if you have the right skills. Straya has like massive facilities down there and every year a hundreds of people can live and work there for several months as support staff. Doctors, mechanics, electricians, etc. I'ma find a way.
>>
>>993512
It's not such hot destination.
>>
>>993516
Wait geepsbro is an aussiecunt? Ayyy.

Anyway do you think that some of the conspiracies surrounding it are true?
>>
>>993522
>conspiracies
huh, not familiar with any of that
>>
>>993529
Muh aliens, muh hole to the center of earth, muh super secret military bases.
It's a bumpy ride and you definitely need your tinfoil hat, mate.

Someone please post that video of the kayaker sucking on a piece of ice.

I haven't been, but one of my peers working on her master's in geology has, as well as my adviser.

From what I've heard, it's really big, really cold and really empty. You do your work, wear a ton of clothes and maybe go skiing every now and then.

I could see the appeal, but the bases are so absurdly far away from everywhere (except for New Zealand, and that's fucking far away from everything else too) that unless you're really interested in research that can't be done elsewhere, or really obsessed with cold and snow, I have a hard time seeing how it would be worth spending 24+ hours in transit to sit in an insulated box for most of your stay.

Is this officially a "woke" thread yet? or should I come back later?
>>
>>994520
I can't say.
I don't speak millennial-net-nigger so I don't know what "woke" means.
>>
A couple buddies of mine did a season as dining stewards at McMurdo. They said it was pretty fun, but you spend most of your time inside. They don't work you all that hard because they're worried about stress and work related injury. They have an activities coordinator whose job it is to keep people from getting bored, but apparently that doesn't stop people from going a bit weird.
>>
>>994529
Woke as according to the urban dictionary:

"Getting woke is like being in the Matrix and taking the red pill. You get a sudden understanding of what's really going on and find out you were wrong about much of what you understood to be truth."

Glad to know /out/ is Antarctic bound. I hope to be there within several years. The continent is the last stand of implicit white identity and I will put forth my best effort to turn it into a white man's paradise for when the earth warms and the continent will finally be habitable and farmable.
>>
>>995859
Will it be farmeable though? What if it just floods?
>>
>>993512
It is fucking cold and there's literally nothing to do at all unless you bring something to do because the people there are clueless. It's like being stuck in school detention in 1983 with a buzzcut football coach who is grading papers and someone stuffed ice down your pants. Oh, and there's sometimes nice scenery if you can stand it for longer than 10 minutes since it all looks the same.

The best you can hope for is that you are swank enough to get pussy.
>>
>>998174
some of it will some of it wont
>>
I did 4 tours there in McMurdo and at a remote base at Black Island. What do you want to know?
>>
>>998383
How did you go there? How much did you get to explore? Did you went crazy? Did you find the end of the world? Is it spooky?
>>
I was there when it was ran by ASA, the programs headquarters is based in Denver, and didnt go crazy at all, there was plenty to do. Mcmurdo base even had a bowling alley!
>>

They need both regular and diesel mechanics. You have a better chance having certs but you can try. You can also go down as just a general assistant and see if you like it.

Would it be possible to walk across the continent? I live in northern Ontario so the cold can't be that much different than what I'm used to desu.

You guys are influencing me. Backstory: I have a physics degree and can't find a job, and in good health.

I just watched some vids on McCurdo and how others found jobs there. I'm considering it now...

Dixie Dansecours and Alain Hubert, hit up your internet search machine.

The former also wrote a helpful book on polar expeditions. Helped me prepare for my trip in Siberia.
>>
>>1006245
New Zealand, little fuckers are tricky to catch though at their feathers feel like sandpaper, so wouldn't recommend rubbing dicks, fapping from a distance would work though.
