How does it feel living in America's anti-/out/ belt?
>>
>>987067
I mean Wisconsin was only an hour away from Chicago, but they really hated seeing Illinois license plates if you were anywhere worth going.

Colorado wasn't a bad drive, you could leave in the morning and be in the mountains by dinner.

Then I moved to Florida. Never lived anywhere with mountains and that blows but at least the beach is right down the street.

Nebraska is basically hell. Indiana is close though.
>>
>>987067

Oh wait I forgot where I am

Iowa has alot of places to do /out/ stuff like hunting and fishing, I think it just lacks hiking with primitive camping. Most of the places that have hiking only have the type of camp sites where your car parked 20 feet away. Yellow River State park has some good hiking with hike in camping though.

Born here. You make do with what you've got.
North Sask is all sheild rock and forests. Lots of lakes too. Went up to Grey Owl Cabin as a kid for school. Was pretty neat.
Been camping in several parks north and south. Best stuff is all north. Whatever you do, never camp at Buffalo pound. Place always has algae and stinks constantly.

I have driven out east a few times. Ontario is great to drive through for the veiws and there are some pretty neat car camping places if your are interested in the sort of camping.
Once camped on the beach of Lake Superior. Sunrise was amazing. Cold though.

I have sadly never been out west. Never had a reason to go as a kid with my family, and I don't have a vehicle now.
One day.

Indiana is okay-ish if you're close enough to easily get down to Bloomington and further south for the national forest. I'm in Indy and its only about an hour drive or less to hills and trees.

Once you get farther north you get into the hellish flat fields for miles.

Why is West Virginia a 3? It is mostly forests and mountains.
>>
I live in Iowa, yes it's pretty lame but I just make due with what's available and take a few trips a year to Colorado or northern Wisconsin/Michigan/Minnesota. Luckily my parents own about 15 acres of timber and prairie so I can get out there and at least be in a natural setting any time I want to. It doesn't take much to get the restoration effects of being in nature.
>>
>>992747
Personally I think the highest score for any landlocked state should be a 5. If you don't have a coastline you don't deserve a better than average score. Maybe a 6 if you have some top tier mountain ranges and a unique feature.

So, basically, Christmas with the inlaws, but less chance of incest?

Having lived in Florida, I can say there are a few outdoor gems, but they are getting harder and harder to find.

In many ways, Florida can be compared to west africa, but with more money and less HIV. And all of it owned by a mouse...

Nebraska fucking sucks for /out/ activities. Loved here my whole life. Everything is privately owned and basically every patch of forest is flat and dumpy with a shitty little creek full of garbage. The only semi decent place I've been here is Indian caves and even that wasn't great. After camping in Colorado nothing holds a candle.

Bruce Peninsula National Park. But don't go on a long weekend because all the douchebags from Toronto pour in and it's a circus. There are some fairly nice sections on the Bruce Trail and along the escarpment. I have walked it from Lion's Head to Tobermorey and it was pretty good. Further north you have Algonquin which has a backpacking route but is mostly about canoeing. There's a lot of /out/ around Parry Sound like the Seguin Trail. Way north near Thunder Bay I have visited The Sleeping Giant and it was some crazy shit. It would be nice to have some huge mountains but there are still some nice places if you look. Government owned land is for libcuck nu-males who got worthless gender studies degrees and can't buy their own land to do /out/ things on. True masculine conservative men all own a couple hundred acres that they can camp/hunt/etc on, like how did you guys not realize this.

ALL government owned land is a defiance of the emperor, and should be turned private as soon as possible. Taxes pay for public land and taxation is theft.

>>
>>1011484
It's almost like your political opinion doesn't have to be absolute black and white.

It's ok to support tax dollars when they pay for something that benefits you. Public lands exist because if all land was private, there would basically be no way for normal people to get to enjoy the outdoors/get to enjoy america. If all land was private, it would either be destroyed for its resources (not implying this is a bad thing, but let's be honest, money is more important than the outdoors), or too expensive for the average person to use.

Be honest m8. Have you eve met anyone from outside of Iowa that actually liked Iowa? Being from Minnesota and knowing people from here, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and the Dakota's no one likes Iowa. You want to know why? Because unlike every other state, the air that you breathe is a noxious mixture of hog farts, ethanol, and diabetic sweat stains.
>>
>>987614
DelMarVa aint too bad. I used to live there. Plenty of out stuff to do, just way too much development, pollution, and felt like the south in the summer time with a hint of slush in the winter. Oh, and they have absolutely no forestry so my career choice isn't welcome there.
>>
>>987787
Nebraska is still better than Iowa. If I drive to Colorado from Minnesota to visit family, I always open the window when I reach Nebraska since Iowa smells like an eternal pile of shit.

I'm a little purturbed that the map maker rated both Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania lower than Nevada. What do they even do there (Aside from gambling and snorting coke off the ass crack of various hookers)? Is raisin drying a sport there?
>>
>>995535
I don't think anyone is actually upset about the high ratings given to the western states, as much as the arrogantly low ratings given to everyone that isn't stuck in some desert hellhole where 95% of the land is covered in park land and ranches. The upper midwest, eastern states, and south all have plenty of outdoor opportunities, it's just that they don't make an economy out of it the way that Rocky mountain states do.
>>
>>996215
"Fed owned land = up sprinkles.
State owned and private land = down sprinkles"
You do realize that there is a clear qualitative difference between a shaded forest in Minnesota and a bunch of sand in Nevada.
"Hooray, today we get to get sunburnt and look at sand again kids"

Maybe its not natural beauty but a lot of theses places are sparsely populated and you are free to do mostly whatever you want. So unless your the type of /out/ist that needs to make sure everything they do is 100% legal, these states are quite out friendly. Also these areas are more for advanced /out/ists. If you think winter camping is intense in the Northeast, try winter camping in the Dakotas or western Minnesota.
>>

National Forrest are actually maintained using revenue from extraction (trees, oil, etc.) Which is why therr are wildfire problems in the West because they don't want extraction.

Hundred acres? I like having access to hundreds of thousands. I also like fair chase of wild game not high fenced animals. Texas is the poster child of shooting pinned deer. If you want privatized hunting go to Europe faggot, they love your kind.
