Find a place with no trails and no posted hunting areas and hide. Set up 2-3 camps with distances between them depending on topography/vantage points.
Learn how to rig ropes. Hiding tool caches vertically off trail in limbs too high for novices to climb will mean you can effectively inhabit hundreds of acres by hopscotching around potential patrols/rangers/drug addicts.
Don't eat poisonous forage.
