You call kubb "vikinge spil"?
I've had luck with it on camping trip. It's compact when you pack it up right. Last time we played was in heavily wooded, hilly terrain, and we still found a nice little patch to clear to make a field.
I wouldn't want to backpack with it or anything.

>get to where you're camping
>find three rocks that can stack
>everyone finds their own stick
>toss then when you're done
>repeat next night
boom. backpacking kubb.
we usually just do "throw the rock"-pick a target, everyone throws rocks at it until we hit it consistently, then we pick a new harder (smaller or further away) target.
Hide the sausage.
I play spy on the guy who owns the land im on.

I play briškule when I go /out/
It's a southern European card game. I don't even know the English name, perhaps Briscola or something?
I know aside from us Croatians, it's played in Macedonia, Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal
It's a quick game and really fun in either 2s or 4s
Chess would be fun if it was an easy carry. You could kill a lot of time with just a single match of chess. Perhaps one of those pocket versions would do.

The wife and I like to play cribbage when we go /out/
Best card game ever
Back in the scouts, a deck of cards was always essential.
Mao and Speed were the popular games.
Lots and lots of cribbage. Pic related is my pocket board and deck

Mao is great as well, although I haven't played in a while.
Think and share
Everybody thinks about something, then there's what they thought about.

I sit in solitude, reading Robert Frost Marcus Aurelius, thinking of the pains and troubles that seek to haunt me be cannot reach me within the depths of the forest.
I also enjoy throwing rocks at things.

Same in my troop, along with Shithead
Those were the days...
my favorite game is fishing and getting drunk
I like to watch my gf get raped by oppressed 35 yearold 15 yearolds who speak broken English

Fine taste sir, that is also my go to game. Sometimes we keep score on paper if I don't want to carry a board and pegs, but it's not quite as fun.
