I like to imagine a time before science had named and classified things... salt crusted men tugging up on their lines in equal part aprehensive and joyfull of what unknown weight pulls against them. Perhaps pulling up Edwardian horrors and considering its edibility or merit as bait. Anyone pulled up a exotic thing lately? I wonder if it occurs less on account of less biodiversity.

Hahaha! Nice.
>>
>>980762

nastiest thing I've caught was a greater weever. I cut line on that evil fucker.
>>
>>980854
wtf?
>>
>>980854
I heard those are a bitch to step on when you are at the beach.
>>
>>980935

Lesser weevers are the ones you can step on. Greater weevers are the ones that cause you to go into shock and die.
>>
>>980522
Almost caught a horseshoe crab, saw the upper of its face and thought oh I caught a skate, but then it flipped over and well all those gills and claw ended legs are a bit rude.
>>
>>981078
so, what you're saying is you prefer the lesser of two weevers

>>There are in fact cases reported, in which victims of a weever sting were still affected by it after a period of 4 months, even if this seems to be a rare scenario.
>>The pain can in some cases reach up to a 10/10 on the visual analogue scale.
>>In a reported case from 1782, a fishermen who had been stung, amputated his own finger to relieve the pain.
>>
>>981078

they're no joke. I have a friend who stepped on one when we were teeangers and her food puffed up to the point we thought the skin was going to split. It wasn't so painful apparently as it was hot ( like having water slightly hotter than you can bear poured over it constantly I was told) in sensation. and it hurt to move due to the swelling- we had to carry her up the beach and take her to the local A&E to get fixed up.

I've know about them all my life but had discounted it ever actually happening ect actually seeing the effects of sting was pretty sobering. I'm a britbong and you don't expect shit like this on a sunny summer's day on a beach in North Wales
>>
I think it's stone fish, were you just die from the pain. I saw a doctor on tv with a syringe of morphine, just injecting the shit out of this persons foot.

If you live in Washington state, don't forget to renew your fishing licenses, as they expired on 31 March.
Unless you only fish for carp or crawfish, then you don't need one.
>>
>>980522
Oh, it's pretty! What are these golden "spikes" for? Some sort of tactile sense perhaps?
>>
>>982700
Carp are such a invasive species they dont care? So what do u do if a game warden comes up and u dont have a licence? Just claim your fishing for carp and all else is accidental bycatch?
