Name your favorite /out/ scary movie. Movies based on the outdoors, caves, oceans, forests etc.

>I think this one is an easy contender
>>
I can probably name some bad ones, if you want to hear about them too by any chance.

Indigenous- kinda an /x/ /out/ movie about a Chupacabra. The girls are pretty. It's pretty shit jerky cam pics of monster(s)... kinda like your movie.

A Perfect Getaway- Not horror so much, but pretty good outdoor movie about some couples hiking around with a murdering couple in the midst.

Most of the shitty Wrong Turn movies. Hillbilly murder junk. Really bad.

Bringing us to the Gem- Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil- Awesome humor horror movie about camping college kids and two rednecks fixing up their cabin in the woods who clash with each other.

descent scared the fuck out of me as a kid mate, but did you know this place exists?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Mountain_(Kalkajaka)_National_Park

My theory is the most plausible explanation for the disappearances considering the geography of the area is that aboriginal descent style cannibals still live there.
>>
>>978870
>illegal to camp there
>>
>>978870
The Descent is the only movie to have scared me shit less
>>
>>979012
It's scary cause it's realistic. Inbred cannibals are an actual fucking thing and how scary is that black mtn i just linked.

So many unsolved disappearances.
>>
>>978870
If you like inbred neoliberal cave dwelling cannibals and shit, read about a place called the "Hypogeum of al Saflieni"

Basically, in Aug 1940 of NatGeo Magazine (that I've been unable to find), it was reported that 30 British schoolchildren had gone missing in a 6000 year old man made cave system on a small North African Island.
A British Embassy worker later went in to investigate and white haired cannibals sacrificed her to their god or some shit.

Information/pictures about the place are very difficult to find and it seems access is heavily restricted.
Most of the information out there is from "official soutces" and actual first hand information is extremely rare.

The only decent pictures and information I've found are here.
Don't bother reading the giant wall of text below. Its about UFO shit.

The movie Backcountry was good. It seems based on the bear attack in Algonquin park that killed two people
>>
>>978588
aren't there like two versions or something? there's a wicked scary original british version and then either a recut version for the American market or just an American version or something and one of them's a shit
>>
>>978870
>"When European colonists arrived late last century, they added to the many Aboriginal legends of the area with a few of their own. Stories abound of people, horses and whole mobs of cattle disappearing into the labyrinth of rocks, never to be seen again."

Holy shit, thats scary as fuck man! Lol, your right this is like a real Descent story.
>>

that was a great and brutal movie

Wasn't that the location this thing teleported to and landed on when it was finally destroyed? Makes sense now.

HA, really? Thats your suggestion?

That movie sucked big ass donkey dick my friend.
>>
>>978659
Liam's charicters did absolutely everything wrong. A proper after credits scene would have been a rescue team landing at the crash site and radioing in that there... Well, I won't spoil it, but the movie did nothing but make me say "dumbass" every three minutes.
>>
>>979452
It was interesting as a concept, but not much else really.
>>
>>979750
>the movie did nothing but make me say "dumbass" every three minutes.

Same here, but Liam was having a late mid-life crisis and needed to be tested or die trying. Personally, I'd have stayed with the plane an dined on wolf. I suppose that wouldn't be much of a movie really.
>>
>>
>>978588

Its kinda /out/.
>>
>>979508
came here to post this...that fucking bear!
>>
>>979813
Exactly, the movie was so stupid me and my friends kind of made a meme out of it. "The vines did it."
>>
>>979817
It seemed like they only made it a couple klicks. It left nogunz thinking you hunt wolves with a 12 gauge Remington 700. Never looked up the "true" story it's supposed to be based on. Guess I will.

What is it about anon?
>>
>>979117
reading the wiki article on recorded bear attacks in North America, there was a separate attack in that park that involved 3 fatalities.

on another note, i didnt realize how prevalent fatalities from bears in NA were. kinda reaffirmed my decision to carry a firearm while on longer outings
>>
>>981696
For black bears not so much...if your going into grizzly territory most DEFINETALLY bring a firearm.
>>
>>981777
>>981696
Don't forget your bear spray.

Durr hunters on Manitu island kill the guardian of the wendigo....shit ensues.
Think "Evil Dead" and "Escanaba in da moonlight" had a baby.
>>
>>981777
If you actually look it up black bears are responsible for more attacks on people than grizzlies
>>
>>981992
Well im talking from a personal standpoint my friend. Statistcally yes, but in nature black bears are rather dosile and timid unlike grizzilies. I dont trust either one of course but id rather be near a black bear.

Does Cabin In The Woods count? Thats a good movie
>>
>>983458
I'm in the Deep South. We don't consider Northern Georgia the Deep South.

Great movie though. That and the Gray are the only movies mentioned here that I've seen. I would call them both thrillers rather than horror, but I'm always open to any good movie recommendations.

Gud film.

These aren't my favorites, but recently I've watched:

Sanctum: the premise is a bunch of scuba divers go diving in this undiscovered cave system. Generic characters, the story isn't clever nor does it subvert expectations, but it's a decent film. On Netflix

The Phoenix Tapes '97: It's a found footage movie that tries to pass itself off as a documentary. About halfway in I could tell it wa s scripted and fake. They start dropping too many movie references from the late 80s that a bunch of young guys in 1997 would have seen growing up. It's too 'on the nose' to be real. Then, it becomes glaringly obvious that it's fake. Of course, I should have known a bunch of hipster douche filmmakers got a hold of footage that was supposedly under lock and key by the federal government for 20 years, and decided the best thing to do, instead of give the video confirming extraterrestrials to the press, was make a shitty movie and sell it to Amazon. It was late and I wasn't thinking much. Still interesting premise, believable acting for the most part (except the obviously gay guy they got to play the father. No way that guy has a wife.)

It's on Amazon Prime
>>
>>982897
yes, based on true events

You know most abductions are government controlled scenarios that have NOTHING to do with Aliens.
