When canoeing with alot of people, I butterfly shrimp, stick a sliver of fresh jalapeƱo in the channel, then wrap with bacon, and stick a skewer through. I let people cook themselves on a grate over an open coals. Pretty sure this is the reason I get consistently invited.

>Cast iron pot

That image deserves cancer.

If you have cast iron cookware then you firepit them unless you are just boiling water.

It's delicious, especially with chakalaka and using it to soak up the juices from the meat you cooked over the fire.

Learn something new everyday. I thought chakalaka was a word Bill Murray made up for Stripes.

>That image deserves cancer.

10 years ago I uploaded photos of my potjies to Wikipedia Commons and released them to the public domain. I did this outta spite after a stock image company rejected them cause res too low, not enough variety. Those photos can now be found on hundreds of websites.
I genuinely don't understand your point about fire pits. The legs on a potjie allow you to plop them down anywhere and start cooking. My little 3/4 has performed awesome deep in wilderness area.

precook the bacon a bit then wrap.
the shrimp will be much more juicy.
and you will have consistent done-ness.

>>971866
the sugars in your teriyaki are burning.
dryrub the chicken to flavor (no salt)
baste the chicken skewers with the teriyaki until the sauce caramelizes and you will have some tasty meat sticks.

Been cooking the shrimp 20 years. Bacon crispy with sticky sweet carmelized bbq sauce. Perfectly done 24 count shrimp with tails left on (more crunch). As soon as they're over the coals, the fat flames up and cooks the bacon fast. You have to soak the sticks with the marinade. If you precook the bacon, it won't wrap tight, it won't hold together if you manage to wrap it, sauce won't stick to it, and you lose what's actually insulating and flavoring the shimp.

You know not shit microwave bitch. Do you precook your fucking rare porterhouse so you dont get any char? You're obviously better at shitting than cooking. Go find a latrine thread and give asswipe tips.

Wew..No.. just work in a 4 star restaurant and cook them everyday sans jalapenos. we add a glaze and a bisque sauce so whatever you say you lame ass service faggot with your gay ass military words like "latrine" eat a grenade nigga
>>
>>976035
A dishwasher. To bad you've only tried them cold off the busboy buffet. Resturants have to keep food cost below 30% regardless of stars. Labor cost is 20%. The shrimp are more valuable than you.

What makes food "Resturant Teir" is all in the presentation. The reason they make your cooks nuke the bacon is to lower cooking time, mitigate fire hazard, and to make things easier for grill giy, who is cooking lots of other stuff.

So, you are giving tips about mass production to someone who cooks as a labor of love. As everyone's favorite food. Service worker once said, "Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken". Also, Red Lobster is not a four star resurant, despite your managers pep talks.
.
>>
>>976156
You are both wrong. Wrapping bacon around anything ruins the bacon and the other item and is a gimmick to disguise otherwise shitty ingredients so they can be sold to low information consumers.

Cook the bacon on the grill but don't be a mong and burn it your fire is too hot

not him but cast iron m8. you wipe it out but never "clean" it per se. whether /out/ or just innakitchen, cast iron demands low maintenance cleaning or you'll fuck it up. s'all good

the only trick is to wipe it out while it's still hot

I'm a climber and one of my buddies converted to vegetarianism like two years ago. Every time we camp he always gives shit to all of us meat eaters because its "the right thing to do".

>hey bro how do like like all that stench of DEATH that you have right there?
>haha bro no wonder you take so long to shit! You literally have ROTTING meat in your stomach!
>*cites various pseudo-science bullshit he obviously gets from instagram*

I used to have no problem sharing food and being vegetarian throughout our camping trips to save on costs and make it easy to cook, but now he's becoming an insufferable cunt about it. Now I intentionally bring meat to eat in front of him because fuck him. We are all educated men and we have all made our decisions on what we put into our bodies but holy hell he's really on a mission to show us that being vegetarian is the right way.

Anyone else know these feels?
>>
>>976521
My ex-vegan buddy calls me "Jambalaya Jim". His cous cous spoiled, and after four days of eating only rice, he caved when I made a big pot of pork sausage jambalaya. He threw up, then got a bigger bowl. He still just eats fish and eggs. I call him "Cunniligus Carl", because he said the jambalaya was better than pussy.
>>
>>976521
Don't bring him along any more and tell him that's why. If he promises not to do it if you bring him along then next time he does it knock him the fuck out.
>>
>>976541

Im gonna bring it up to him because its ridiculous. He acts all high and mighty because he doesnt eat meat. Fuck that bullshit. He's not above us. I am growing very tired of it. I respect his decision of being a vegetarian so why cant he respect our decisions on being an omnivore? I have been temped to fucking slap him.

lolz "cunniligus Carl"... reminds me of pic related

This is a great thread. My favorite meal while beach camping is dandilion greens and winkles or musscels. Just boil it all in sea water and dip it in butter. I sometimes bake potatos as well.
