Just saw The Revenant. What are some other good /out/ movies?
>>968220
The original Davy Crockett shows from Disney are pretty great, though they are kinda cheesy.
>>968220
Jeremiah Johnson (the best /out/-kino)
The Grey
The Edge
A River Runs Through It
Wild (fuck you i liked it)
True Grit
>>968220

not strictly /out/ but I liked Winter's Bone
There's that german 2 part miniseries about the soldier running away from a camp in Siberia (So weit die Füße tragen)
>>968542

Into the Wild
>the revenant
>good
>>968557
EXACTLY
half the movie is like him breathing loudly and going ridiculous situations in which he would have no chance of surviving
>ride a horse off a cliff?
>you'll be fiiiiiine
>>968220
Into thin air.
The Road.
For inspiration, Tommy Lee Jones in The Hunted (2003).

The road? With Viggo Mortensen?
>>968557
This so much. It's two and a half hours of my life that I'll never get back.
>>968569
This is true, the plot was pretty shitty, but I think it was still one of the best films in years for the landscapes alone.
Never cry wolf is fantastic.
Nerdy researcher goes middle of nowhere and lives off canned asparagus and mice.
Dersu Uzala by Akira KurosawaThe Secret of the Old Woods by Ermanno Olmi
>>968598
nothing was wrong with the scenery, the camera work wasn't bad either....in that way it is a nice /out/ movie
I just don't care for them embellishing the story like that just to make what happened to the guy more movie worthy
guys, what about the walkabout?
it has Jenny Agutter's 17 year old tits in it...
(and pretty tastefully done, for that matter)
>>968577
yep
>>968627
I really liked it but I think it could have been a lot better if they just simplified it. Even if they kept all the weird spiritual dreams
>>968611
Hadn't seen it before, but great indeed. Thanks for the tip!
>>968220
Last of the dog men isn't bad. You can find it on you tube
>castaway not mentioned
shame on you all
Pretty darn /out/ if you ask me tbhfam
I enjoyed The Survivalist (2015). Barely any talking though, so if that's not your thing, don't waste your time.
>>968324

The Mountain Men
>>968220
-quest for fire is actually pretty interesting from an /out/ perspective
-Castaway is great obviously
-Deliverance shows you that you really are wide open when you head out
-happy people is quite the fascinating documentary
-the gods must be crazy is kind of amusing. I feel like a cross between the bushman and the scientist
-antarctica (1983) is a less shitty eight below. actually a great kid movie. same with my side of the mountain. It's painfully canandian and I'm a canadian but again a good kids movie. Fucking Bando, man. still have nostalgia for these sorts of films
-first blood is a real nice look the wilderness of BC
-another one is legends of the fall if you can stand the grand romance angle. I've spent some time in areas close to where it was filmed and it's like being home for me when I'm away. Actually I think revenant was also filmed here. I live in one of the best /out/ places in the world.
-probably the blue lagoon although I never saw it.
-I also saw this movie called wildlike about this older hiker and this girl with a creepy uncle who runs away to join him on a hike into denali. Kind of half formed but the dude kind of reminds me of you assholes.

This desu. Reese Witherspoon's character is really hard to like for most of the movie, but it's a beautiful movie nonetheless.
>>968220
Deliverance
The Road was a terrible, sad and depressing movie
Don't watch that shit
Not even about the outdoors
It's about surviving fucked up individuals in the post apocalyptic world

came here to poast this. the book is /out/er than the movie but it's still fantastic to have a pretty accurate presentation of colonial America and the various politics and alliances between the injuns and the empires

Also, The VVitch
>>968324
The Grey was shit, wolves don't act like that and the ending was complete bullshit

Yea but it was pretty survival oriented.
I came to say
The Road
>>975389
Fitz carraldo
When I was a kid I watched White Water Summer hundreds of times. It made me want to go and explore the wilderness. Too bad Samewise grew up to be a cuck.
Milo and Otis
Also I'm surprised that no one mentioned Ultimate Survival Alaska. It may not be a movie but its /out/ as all hell.
Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog
Goddamn fantastic movie about a teenager and his dog who wash up on a remote shore of British Columbia after their boat goes down in a storm. The kid is a pretty good outdoorsman but he's only got a knife and a box of matches. It's a beautiful movie and watching this kid and his dog survive on berries and mice while they try to hike to civilization is great.
