OK, fair enough. Well, if you've never tried to make old skool (like grandma's mom used to make) coffee with triple-boil when it's chilly and the Sun is rising, you're missing out. IMO.

Really nothing quite like climbing out of my tent before sunrise on a cool morning in the mountains and brewing a cup of coffee so that I can sit in a spot with a good view and watch the sun come up.

Boil water. Grounds in press. Add water. Press. Coffee.

These are great! Takes very little fire and time to get it to run through. It's fairly small and lightweight. Gets ALL the good stuff out of the grounds. Got mine (Italian with a little chef guy on it) for $8 at a salvage store.

Make Coffee Great Again

But seriously just get some high end instant coffee unless you are car camping. It's fast, light and there is less clean up. The taste is not as good as pressed coffee but when you have been hauling gear and sleeping on the ground it's hardly noticeable.

>>962680
It depends on what I've taken with me. Pretty much my whole life I used pic related, an old percolator and just place that over the fire. It takes forever to do this - expect 15-20 minutes to get a decent fire / coals, then another 15-20 minutes to boil the water and get coffee done enough, but it's a nice payoff once you finally get the cupajoe.

Now I have a jetboil with the french press accessory, which makes coffee making a dream, can get a fresh cup in about 5 minutes all while sitting in the hammock. I definitely prefer this way but it's fun to go back to the percolator once in a while.
>>
>>963396

I have that exact perculator. The glass thingy on top fell out though and I can't find a replacement.

Best camping coffee.

First, go to a decent cafe and ask them to grind some beans from you. Coffee tastes GODLIKE when freshly ground, and a few weeks from roasted. Ask them for a coarse grind, not espresso grind!

That ground coffee is fresh for a few days, then starts to decline into staleness - if you can seal it airtight, that's an even better bonus. You'll want 18g coffee for 200ml water

You don't need a French press or aeropress, or any kind of filter. If you do it right, you'll get a mug of campfire coffee with absolutely no grounds.

01 Boil water in whatever, then set aside off the heat. Maybe let it cool a minute or two.

02 Sprinkle coffee in, stir, 3 mins.

03 This is the important part. Drop roughly a tablespoon or two cold water, lightly dropped over that hot coffee broth. Wait 30s.

04 All of that coffee grind will have sunk, all of it. You can either drink right from that broth and leave the last bit, or decant it into a mug(s)

Stale coffee, instant coffee is fucking disgusting and I literally detest people who say they like it. You deserve better than that. Do this and you will be sitting in your forestry domain and you will feel like a fucking god.

Source; I'm a barista, my cheeks hurt for a living.
>>

i'm aware of their size, but that doesn't change the fact that a) they're 3x or more as expensive by weight as a jar instant, and b) their coffee:garbage ratio is 1:1.

I don't think you understand how an informative narrative is formed. When he says "coffee is GODLIKE when freshly ground," or " instant coffee is fucking disgusting," that's an appeal to pathos. When he gives detailed instructions like "18mg," "200mL," "3 min," etc, that's an appeal to logos. When he mentions that he is a barista, that's his appeal to ethos.
Having all 3, logos, ethos, and pathos, is what makes a quality post. It's what we want more of. Insulting his job and trying to sound witty by remembering that Starbucks comes from the US PacNW just makes you another useless shitposter.

Yes, def a Bialetti.

Check the rubber rings periodically. If they get too old, they get brittle. And then they just kind of melt into the steel grooves and not even can get it out! New ones are cheap and you should change them occasionally.

mfw scraping off all of the rubberized shit with tiny screwdrivers
>>
>>964701
If the rubber ring sticks to the metal, it usually means that you are boiling your coffe. To avoid that, make sure to completely remove the coffe maker from the heat source as soon as it starts to "make noise". That noise means that the water level in the reservoir cannot reach the noozle, and air/water vapour is passing through so, you will not get more coffe. No water in the reservoir to dissipate the heat also means that it will start to increase its temperature unchecked, what causes the rubber seal to stick to the metal.
