Anyone know of any good weekend backpacking trails in the Adirondacks? Preferably 2-3 days to complete and not too hard, my sister wants to come with me.
I'll start off by suggesting the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness region. For a nice weekend with great views:
1. Park off of NY-74 and follow the blue trail markers for the Long Swing Trail for 2.8 miles.
2. Take the left fork towards Crane Pond for 0.3 miles
3. From Crane Pond: Follow the Crane Pond Trail south .6 mile to the start of the loop.
4. Veer left to hike the route clockwise. Reach 440-acre Pharaoh Lake’s north shore at mile 3.2.
5. Merge onto the Long Swing Trail and continue 1.4 miles east and south to Lean-to #3.
6. Follow the shoreline 1.7 miles to a fork at the lake’s southern tip.
7. Turn east onto West Shore Trail and hike 1.3 miles to the Pharaoh Mountain Trail.
8. Ascend 1,300 switchbackless feet to the summit of 2,556-foot Pharaoh Mountain (mile 8.9).
9. Continue 2.3 miles back down the mountain.
10. Turn left to exit the loop and head 0.6 miles back towards Crane Pond.
11. Continue 0.3 miles to the fork, then turn right onto the Long Swing Trail.
12. Hike 2.8 miles back to the parking lot.
Bump for interest.
I know what site your looking at, first time in the adks? Ive spent some time there, absolutely fantastic. When are you going?

I grew up in upstate NY, so I've been to the Adirondacks a few times. I went through the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness once with scouts and loved it. Hopefully sometime in the next couple weeks.
Just testing something because apparently captcha's fucked
Anywhere on that map looks good. Just be prepared for cold nights and snow in the next couple of weeks. Let me know how muddy the trails are.
Here's marcy. It's quite popular and easily doable in 2 days. Was an up and down for us, no loop. Camping is restricted to the lean to areas I believe but we went up further off the trail without issue.
Really trying to get /out/ this summer and ADK is high on my listing as I live in WNY.
