stuff I found while /out/

I was climbing around in the Tinajas Atlas mountains and found a piece of Native pottery. It wasn't much but it was cool to see and think about the history. I just left it there.

Hooked into an Abu Garcia rod and reel combo fishing off of Ship Island. Best catch of the day. It was a shark convention. The reel was starting to corrode, but I disassembled it, lubed and smoothed things out.

I've found at least a half dozen knives over the years, but I've lost nearly as many. Profit???

This is how I got my fishing pole.

I found a real gold ring in a stream when I was like 5, I gave it to my mom who wore it all the time, it had lionesses walking around it in a circle, it was actually pretty nice and tasteful, she recently lost it at a beach though she was pretty torn about it

Not really /out/ nor what I would call camping in most areas, but

I was a River Patrol Ranger for a summer and found all kinds of shit people left behind at our popular campsites.

Personally I grabbed:
3 tents (they would blow over and break a pole and leave them/throw them away, i scrounged together a couple for old roommates and kept a small one for myself)
a fly rod/reel with a bonus spinning reel
2 good condition folding chairs for personal use
a spare rod
3 sleep pads, one of which is a thermarest ridgerest
2 pop up canopys - similar story to the tents
3.5 sets of horse shoes + 2 poles and a hammer
Cornhole boxes - no beanbags

I was surprised how much mexicans from LA left when they camped. I had people that would buy a BBQ grill to take with them, use it for a weekend, then leave it behind and throw it in the dumpster.

Had a local that would metal detect after a holiday weekend and find all kinds of shit.

I found a tree stump along a trail with a pile of money on it. I took the money and got myself some snacks. I did the trail again at a later date and found money in the same spot. More snacks for me.

I found a small Gerber knife stuck in a tree when I wanted to trim my fishing line but left my pocket knife back at the campsite

I left it behind in the same spot for someone else

I found one of those rubber-coated gardening gloves last fall. I figured it belonged to some ginseng hunters or mexicans or meth heads or something, so I shit on it to let them know I mean business.

Found a stocked first aid kit, divers knife, some kind of gloves with rubber grip on the palms, a bb gun worth around $150, buncha metal grills

I found yeti cooler someone must have dropped or left behind. I took a shit in it to let them know I mean business.

I know of a remote spot on some county land, has 2 aluminum boats compete with oars n anchor. They stay there year round and have no registration I can see, nice somebody left em there for whoever puts in effort to find the spot.

Stuff like this makes me feel like humanity has a chance.
