Some hand sanitizer and bandaids of various sizes. Cravats or cravat like pieces of fabric for slings, swaths, splints, and possibly tourniquets (but that last use is a big stretch). A mylar emergency blanket. Just those few things should cover most of what you're likely to run into.

It's really a lot more important that you know what to do in an emergency than that you have a pile of high speed medical shit. It also depends on the trip and what kind of resources you have, of course.
>>

Benadryl and aspirin. Morons on here will say bandages but your weaeing a shirt. They will say tourniquitea but 2 cloth stips and a astick work.

I can save 75 percent of morons with sticks and shirts. Benadryl and aspirin cover 20% more.

Benedryl, Anti-diuretic, Bandana, Ethanol. If you anything besides those four things, you should be headed to a hospital anyway.
>>

You're a gigantic dipshit if you think that your dirty clothes work as well as clean gauze and something containing ethanol.

Buy some suture kits and learn to use them. I've never had to use them on people, but I did have to stitch my dogs belly up well enough to hold her guts in. Left my gun in the woods. Carried her 3 miles in 45 minutes to the car, then 30 minutes to vet. Figured she was a goner. She was 7 then, 13 now. Gun was easy to find since I had my GPS tracking.

Yup, hope I never have to use it.
Mine's the ResQLink, not the + flavor. Don't really need it to float for what I do, rather have a smaller device.

My FAK is pretty basic - don't need a whole lot. Avoid taking a bunch of shit "just in case", especially if you don't know how to properly and safely use it. No first aid is better than bad first aid in a lot of cases.

Get the training. FA/CPR is cheap and easy, maybe $40 and half a day of your time.

Vetwrap, athletic tape, nitrile gloves, ibuprofen, alcohol pads, neosporin (rotate that out so it's fresh), CPR mask, dental wax, trauma shears, bandages, and gauze are about all I take for dedicated first aid stuff.
I've improvised for other stuff - motorcycle tube for a sling, for example.

Not dying 101. I'm doing solo travel.

It'll have drugs, gloves, tape, bandages, bandage/iris scissors, some hemostats and forceps, alcohol, and maybe a liter of fluid/electrolytes replacement.

If I could get some epipens, I'd carry them for other people but those are probably expensive and I don't have allergies that I know of. I only ever plan to be 10 miles max away from help and near enough to trails.

B - diphenhydramine, solumedrol, epinepherine
C - oral rehydration salts/ cerosport or similar

I recommend packing a couple SAM splints of various sizes and ace wraps with 3" tape to secure.

I basically pack these, but also butterfly strips , PVP-I, activated carbon tablets, leukotape and a Victorinox SD.
PVP-I might double as a last resort water disinfectant. I also repackage meds to save space / weight.

I also pack a petrolatum + zinc oxide cream for rashes, should also work as a backup sunblock and firestarter.

Not first aid, but I also carry a spare phone and compass.

Some of the things listed here make me cringe. Hey guys, he said he's going fucking camping, not to fight ISIS.
>>
>>954365
Uh oh. I have few questions about blisters. How would you treat them. Should I poke them so liquid leeks out ?
What if it is already broken and I need to stay on my feet ?
>>
>>954616
Besides the CAT what exactly makes you cringe?
>>
>>954623
U.S. Army survival manual says the following

If you get a small blister, do not open it. An intact blister is safe from infection. Apply a
padding material around the blister to relieve pressure and reduce friction. If the blister
bursts, treat it as an open wound. Clean and dress it daily and pad around it. Leave large blisters intact. To avoid having the blister burst or tear under pressure and cause a painful
and open sore, do the following:

Obtain a sewing-type needle and a clean or sterilized thread.

Run the needle and thread through the blister after cleaning the blister.

Detach the needle and leave both ends of the thread hanging out of the blister. The
thread will absorb the liquid inside. This reduces the size of the hole and ensures that
the hole does not close up.

Pad around the blister.
>>
>>954627
>Detach the needle and leave both ends of the thread hanging out of the blister. The thread will absorb the liquid inside. This reduces the size of the hole and ensures that the hole does not close up.

That is a really good tip.

>>954623
Also, carry moleskin just in case. And if you are breaking in new boots, or are just prone to blisters...put a pair of sock liners on your feet before regular socks. <<<Great trick that got me through basic training rucks.
>>
>>954667

If you choose to open the blister, have something on hand to dry the area out and something to bandage and pad it with. I have used things as simple as hand sanitizer and moleskin.

>>954435
Athletic tape is good. I recommend the 3in climbing tape.

>>954420
pic related

>>954412
Then get you to an REI or whatever and take the first aid course or, better yet, get your EMT-B
>>
>>954502
>why need a sharpie?

Simple, bites and stings. If the patient becomes allergic, the site starts swelling from a venomous contact, etc. the patient or medical personnel can draw a circle around the base of the bite. If the bite swells more, it will protrude past the circle and indicate that the condition is worsening.

CAT is just handy. No you're not stepping on a land mine, but it can be used if you need it, plus its light weight.

what do i need to know going into ACLS? I taught myself EKG rhythms and the ACLS drugs, which i was told I should know.

Also, does TECC teach crikes and needle decompression? I dont really need to take it but TECC sounds pretty interesting
>>
>>955493
Where are you coming from? EMT-B? RN to Medic challenging the test?

ACLS is just following a megacode algorithm for 3 major codes - VFib/VTach, Asystole, and PEA, using your ACLS drugs, and understanding electrical therapy.
If you're solid on your EKG Rhythms, then you should be alright. ACS is another course that's basically a prereq for ACLS - same with ASLS. Not sure where you're coming from or your goals so it's difficult to speak on.
There are flow charts online that are the baseline for understanding ACLS. If you review those, an ACLS course should be absolute cake.

TECC does teach crics, and needle decomp, if theyre a true NAEMT course, but it's mainly focusing on an E before A primary assessment with a focus on stopping massive hemorrhage. It was pretty pointless to take, as I learned all what they taught in medic school, including crics and needle decomps, but 200 bucks is significantly cheaper than the 6 grand and a year of schooling.

Band aid large waterproof pads. Indestructable if you apply it to clean, dry skin. Will fall right off if you apply it to wet skin. $5.50 at the drug store, $2.50 at walmart. You could bring all six of them, and it would be very lightweight. Must be the ones pictured. Put your ointment on the cotton pad. Sticky part must be touching dry skin.

Walmart also has the best price on self adhering tapes. If you actually go to the store it's even less expensive than it is online

Lighter, single serve ointments can be found at minimus

Blue nitrile gloves

Ziploc freezer bag

Chinook medical is kind of neat. But I think they have a $25.00 minimum order. Best price on elastic bandages though

also lol at those zombie squad first aid kits

The other alphabet soup classes are the core of your EMT-P Program. If you're spending the time learning it, you might as well enroll in the closest medic program near you and be certified in it. ACLS, ACS, PALS, Etc. Is a good tool to understand patients, but it'll never be used in practice if you don't cert yourself.

Don't pack antibiotics. Go to a hospital so the labfags can figure out what you've got

Your tetracycline won't cure your Giardia infection and the chances that you'd have an antibiotic resistant infection are high enough that self-medicating is a very bad idea

Sometimes it's better to let your immune system do its job than to ruin your body's microbiota. Antibiotics should really be a last resort

they are memes for hikers. very useful for combat medics. there is a difference between the two likely use on the order of magnitude between trumps tiny dick and trump tower.
>>
>>962756

Belt doesn't work that well either. It still stretches and can't get tight enough. You're better using a triangle bandage and a pen over your belt.

>>964117
You're a dumbass too. EMTs use them every single day as well, multiple times a day. A combat medic can ended up using multiple ones on a single person.

You should do some googling.
Not rare for hikers to use them too because they're not paying attention to the trail, due to all the sights and sounds. They fall and break a bone, or accidently impale their leg on a some thing. You can easily use two cat tourniquets and some wood, fashion a much better splint for a broken bone like in the leg that a normal Sam splint can't cover, or a shitty couple sticks and rope like most ppl fashion. Even when you take wilderness first aid courses, a good instructor will even tell you to bring at least two of them.

All this is also first hand knowledge too, due to being a city EMT for the last nine yrs, also being on the S&R team as a EMT too.

What ever, this is 4chan. Like always, no knowledge faggots will still throw in their 2 cents, cause they took some 1 day course, or watched a few things on youtube.
>>
>>964149
you have shit belts that's not my problem.
>Not rare for hikers to use them too

>>
>>964149
you have a chance of injury during hiking of about 0.005%. compared to that walking on the street is fucking lethal. then most injuries are sprains and break and concussions and scrapes. only like 1 in 10 million involves the severe bleeding a tq would be useful for. and the chances of the person knowing how to use it and being able to is close to nothing.

so tq is a fucking meme in the /out/ context.

This is my pack medkit. Just got it in the mail. Dumped out most of the useless junk and put some of my own stuff in.

I need to get another pair of tweezers and I want to put a sharpie in there, but I'm not sure of what else I need.

I count the jerky as a morale booster. Not for emergencies.

I'm trying to figure out where exactly to put it.
My toiletries kit makes everything smell like soap.

I forgot how /out/ is about that stuff. Here is a pic without it.

Goddamn you medfags really need to be tested for autism. No one is shooting at you on a camping trip nor are there any ieds on the trails.

Nice start. I'd leave out the SAM splint though in a small kit. For something that bulky they are a pretty low probability, low advantage item compared to other things like superglue or a bottle of irrigation fluid.

Are you always hanging out with them? No, so shut the fuck up. If they are true medical personal, they should already have a kit themselves. You stupid lil faggot.

One thing a lot of people forget and it's one of the most valuable things IMO is a portable charger. Medic here Ive responded to so many calls were people couldn't call 911 because their cell died. Throw one of those mini charger packs in there. You will have to maintain it drain and recharge every month but it's worth it.
