How difficult would it be to keep something like this heated/cooled? What would the benefit of this be compared to an A-frame that's been opened up, only the A-frame will cost 25% of this, take up a smaller footprint, and isn't incredibly unpractical?

This is why I like chillin in the garage. Best of both worlds. The other day I got to watch one neighbor bitching at the other neighbor for driving too fast thru the area while kids were playing. All while having a roof over my head and laughing at them from my work bench.

Bruh, these windows. It's like a Yeti tumbler. Doesn't help in the summer afternoon when the sun sets if you have windows like that on the West side of the house. Lots of times they will have fancy mechanical blinds or make those windows face north.

Because I'm middle class and have realized that working 60 hours a week at a corporate job to build a giant modern abomination of a house where your wife can fuck the milkman when you're not home (protip, you're never home) is silly when you could buy land in Idaho or Utah for pennies, allowing you to work less than 20 hours a week until you become sustainable food wise,at which point you can just take side jobs to have blow money.

Big houses are silly unless you have many children.
