And then State Farm hitmen come and kill you because the cops are too lazy to investigate the case but insurance companies leave no stone unturned.

Owning property is simply a proxy for tribal land control. If we lived 2000 years ago, no one would blink an eye about me skinning you alive for trespassing on the land I call home.

The law of the jungle, of might make right, trumps any weak ass egoist "spook" meme argument.
>>
>>951224
>Implying you shouldn't take things you want if you have the means to do so

Laughing @ you, my property.
>>
>>951227
Oh, in a tribal or primitive system you should. If you have the means to steal, you should, but you can't cry about the consequences when you end up with a sword in your belly.

The modern system simply attempted to reduce things of that nature, i.e., instead of me killing you for trespassing, you get punished by the government.

These memesters wishing a world without private property would cry when the big bad man who controls the woods peppers their friends with buckshot, and only a coercive government would allow for them to continually engage in theft of this nature. This government is also a spook, which is why I stated that the law of might makes right is superior.
>>
>>951230
>bringing up speculative "consequences" as if they have any relevance to this discussion

I want things, I own things. It's that simple, my property. If you are not capable of achieving your desires you change them or you become capable.

Might makes right is a spook. There is no "right", only egoism and those willing to admit to their egoism.

I pity you, my property.
>>
>>951235
These "speculative consequences" are concrete examples of cause and effect, the only truly realistic philosophy of life. In case you missed the memo, it's generally accepted to use hypotheticals to prove a point. You can attempt to distill everything I say down to a spook, eventually implying that a spook is a spook, but it simply reveals that you're either a turbo autist without an understanding of context or a master ruseman.

Good luck with the meme ideology/ neet pastime friend. I wish you well :)

Henry David Thoreau.

>>953071
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion."
>>
>>953051
>If you own a cabin inna woods that you leave empty for MONTHS at a time, then a poorer person can take it without being immoral
Based on what? Who gets to decide who has too much? You? The government? Whatever freeloading NEET that wanders by because he CHOSE to live alone in the woods without proper preparation? What's your argument here? What right do you have to make a claim on something that someone else had to earn?

>>
>>953432
If you have abandoned a home for months how can you shoot?
If you are there to defend your stuff, its yours.
>>
>>953436
But thats an arbitrary measure of time. Should people be able to steal my stuff if I go on vacation or make a trip to the grocery store? What if somebody has seasonal work and has two houses because its required for their job?
>>
>>953442
Those are all easily discernable situations .
Common sense tells you when someone has a fancy summer home for fun.
No need for written laws with clean cut rules.
>>
>>953454
But how does someone having a fancy summer home for fun give you the right to steal their stuff, especially if you've gone out of your way to pretend to be a survivalist NEET in the woods? >>

>>
>>953847
>autistic
You're the one talking about sacred homes. Either its all ok, or none of its ok. Stealing is stealing. Please address your inconsistencies.
>>
>>953850
think about bears. they steal all the time from campers and campsites. rarely does this ever result in the bear getting killed unless it's a direct confrontation and most bears are justified. now when a bear encounters a mountain man's cabin or breaks into a home, even though he might still innawoods, he is 100% getting shot and killed and well within the mountain man's justification.

so in this way, we can think of hermits/nomads as bears. yes, he stole from campers/vacationers, but it was in his nature and important for his survival, so his stealing was justified.
>>
>>953413
Natural law? Under natural law I can fucking murder you for being a retarded communist cunt.
>muh sterner
I hate you and would love to shove my gun down your throat.
>>
>>953862
>actually comparing bears to humans
Bears don't choose to live in the wild they have too. Humans can live in society if they choose to.
Bears can not be justified. There is no such thing.

Its not ok to steal just because you are hungry. If its okay to steal because your hungry then it is also okay to kill because you are angry.
>>
>>953850
Autists always see inconsistances where there are none.
>>
>>953847
That's retarded. By your logic of natural law being the ability to defend one's property, leaving your home unattended during the day justifies any theft committed in that time frame.
>>
>>953869
I'd say the exception to this is when someone is unintentionally stuck in a survival situation. Otherwise fuck some jackass that puts himself in said situation on purpose.
>>
>>953912
I agree with this. Theres a big difference between a person whose life is legitimately in peril due to circumstances outside of their control and some asshat who decides to leave society to live in the woods and says "welp, I'm a 'survivalist' now, better start raiding from all the nearby houses in this popular vacation area".

if you can't protect your own stuff then you do have too much of it. thats just reality. if you have so much stuff you have two homes, you can't be in two places at once, one of those homes full of shit is undefended.

survival of the fittest not the fittest and most law abiding

yeah like when a squirrel steals an acorn from another squirrel and then the squirrel police come and arrest him?

are you fucking kidding? theft is part of the natural law of things, so is getting killed for trying to thieve. If you arent at your second house to guard your shit, its up for grabs.
>>
>>953796

you can't protect what you own if you leave it somewhere.

its like parking your car in a bad part of town. The car will probably be okay when you get back to it 90% of the time but there is still the chance that something bad could happen when you aren't there.

You could get robbed while you're on vacation or at the grocery store, if the thieves dont get caught, all the shit they stole is NOW IN THEIR POSSESSION and thus BELONGS TO THEM

And if the upstanding neighbors of my second home decide to put a few holes in your chest for unlawfully entering my home, this too is reality. Just hope you understand that.

It would have been awesome if he went even deeper into the wilderness and established a homestead with a farm. He did a great job of surviving the elements for all those years, but he half-assed his attempt at living free. Also, as the GQ article pointed out, he could have simply hunted and fished on public land, which is perfectly legal. It just shows that he made an illogical, emotional decision to live in the woods and never attempted to correct his course.

The sneaking about ("rock to root to rock, every step memorized") was awesome, especially when you take his severe nearsightedness into account. But I think overall it would have been a more triumphant story if he had established a fully self-sufficient small farm.

He could see a few feet in front of him. He wasn't blind, just everything that wasn't close to him appeared very blurry.

It is pretty awesome how given his shitty eyesight he still managed, in the dark no less, to sneak around without leaving a trace through pure memory. He had dozens of different cabins he'd raid and he could get to any one of them from his camp without being detected. He was definitely ninja-tier
>>
>>957596
He could have, had he been able to read the map that he brought. There was a tram, clearly marked, he could have used.

Chris was a bonified vagrant, but had absolutely no business trying to be a survivalist. He went where he wanted for the romanticism of the idea, and had an utter lack of outdoor skills to back up his descisions. In a true survival situation, one simple mistake can be fatal. Chris made many, including:
1-not knowing how to trap, fish
2-having at best a rudimentary understanding of hunting
3-having a severe inability to preserve and store food, ie. almost an entire moose wasted
4-venturing unprepared into the woods and not considering the consequences of the spring thaw (newsflash, snowmelt=higher rivers)
5-having a complete lack of understanding ofthe surrounding territory (stocked nearby cabins, a steel cable across the river)
6- having a fatal lack of knowledge of edible/inedible plants
>>

Honestly the average /b/tard would probably make it longer because at least they'd be more resourceful and actually fucking scout the area nearby. Fucking bitch.

>His thoughts were dominated by surviving winter. His first goal was to get fat. This was a life-or-death necessity. "I gorged myself on sugar and alcohol," he said. "It’s the quickest way to gain weight, and I liked the inebriation."

>Over time, his body began to break down. His teeth constantly hurt.

>"I stole. I was a thief. I repeatedly stole over many years. I knew it was wrong. Knew it was wrong, felt guilty about it every time, yet continued to do it." ... "It took a while to overcome my scruples. I was always scared when stealing. Always."

>One book Chris never stole was the Bible. He meditated now and then but did not pray, with one exception. When the worst of a Maine winter struck, all rules were suspended. "Once you get below negative twenty, you purposely don’t think," he told me. His eyes went wide and fearful from the memory. "That’s when you do have religion. You do pray. You pray for warmth."

From the GQ article.
>>
It was in November of that year, 1950, just after our own arrival, that three nuns reached the camp under the sentences of hard labor. The many thousand women prisoners at Vorkuta did not work in the mines but performed other rugged work, and the nuns were assigned to a plant which made bricks for construction work throughout the whole Arctic area of Russia.

When the nuns were first taken to the brick factory, they told the foreman that they regarded doing any work for the Communist regime as working for the Devil and, since they were the servants of God and not of Satan, they did not propose to bow to the orders of the foreman despite any threats he might make.

They were put on punishment rations, consisting of black bread and rancid soup, day after day. But each morning when they were ordered to go out to the brick factory, into the clay pits, or to any other back-breaking assignment, they refused. This refusal meant, of course, that they were destined to go through worse ordeals.

The commandant directed that they again be assigned to the outdoor work detail and, if they still refused, that they be taken up to a hummock in the bitter wind of the early Arctic winter, and left to stand there immobile all day long to watch the other women work. This was done. When the pale light of the short Arctic day at last dawned, they were seen kneeling there and the guards went over expecting to find them freezing, but they seemed relaxed and warm.

At this, the commandant ordered that their gloves and caps be removed so that they would be exposed to the full fury of the wind. All through the eight-hour working day they knelt on that windy hilltop in prayer. Below them, the women who were chipping mud for the brick ovens were suffering intensely from the cold. Many complained that their feet were freezing despite the supposedly warm boots they wore.
>>
When in the evening other guards went to the hill to get the nuns and bring them back to the barracks, they expected to find them with frostbitten ears, hands, and limbs. But they did not appear to have suffered any injury at all. Again the next day they knelt for eight hours in the wind, wearing neither hats nor gloves in temperatures far below zero. That night they still had not suffered any serious frostbite and were still resolute in their refusal to work. Yet a third day they were taken out and this time their scarves too were taken away from them.

By this time, news of what was happening had spread throughout all the camps in the Vorkuta region. When at the end of the third day, a day far colder than any we had yet experienced that winter season, the bareheaded nuns were brought in still without the slightest trace of frostbite, everyone murmured that indeed God had brought a miracle to pass. There was no other topic of conversation in the whole of Vorkuta. Even hardened MVD men from other compounds found excuses to come by the brick factory and take a furtive look at the three figures on the hill. The women working in the pits down below crossed themselves and nervously mumbled prayers. Even the commandant was sorely disturbed.

By the fourth day, the guards themselves were afraid of the unearthly power which these women seemed to possess, and they flatly refused to touch them or have anything more to do with them. The commandant himself was afraid to go and order them out into the hill. And so they were not disturbed in their prayers, and were taken off punishment rations. When I left Vorkuta four years later, those nuns were still at the brick factory compound and none of them had done a day's work for the Communist regime. The guards were under instructions not to touch them or disturb them. They were preparing their own food and even making their own clothes. Though prisoners, they were spiritually free.

I half agree with this, I don't /pol/ but I would argue it's more difficult to spot a conservative traditionalist compared to a progressive. Conservatives don't dye their hair purple and wear neon dick pins. So irl you might just be passing over conservatives(since we don't look like freaks). Shiny/loud things attract more attention.

So your personal experience could be muddled by this fact.
