If you do what >>947146 says then be sure to put the blade on the the block of wood and your finger in the barrel. The pressure that builds up when you fire will be like a jack hammer and split the wood almost instantly.

Oh that's one of my best finds. A family friend was giving away some stuff from her late husband. Among a treasure trove of higher end tools were a few knives, and that was one of them. You are the first person who has known what it is.
