Order discontinued colors and patterns on ebay like the clackin raps.

Their x raps and shadow raps are good. Their sub walkers are good but expensive as fuck.

Idk. So many of them are big and with the hot water here year-round, even big bass don't really like going for big baits.

>>946151
I'm a big fan of X-Raps. They are all good. I think this pic is all X-Raps on the top.

Then the bottom is Scatter Raps IIRC (the ones in the orange box) and there are a couple colors of those that I use a lot. They don't dive super deep which is nice from shore and also lots of retailers were discontinuing certain colors of the Scatter Raps so you could find them for cheap. Dick's had a sale on them a few months back where they were $3 or $4 each if you bought at least 4.

Favorite color for the X-Raps is the "Gold" which is really like copper with an orange belly. And then the Scatter Raps there is a shiny gold that has caught tons of fish for me and the firetiger is good too.

Gander Mtn still has a bin with a few of them. I should've grabbed a couple when they had a better selection. Last weekend I almost got this big gold lipless one that was 7/8oz because it would be good for launching on the memecasters. But I was too focused on the Sebiles (which I still need to grab more of). And I think I got that Bagley instead.

I love that one of you nerds reported me for joking and posting that fish butthole picture callin peps/bepis gay for posting fishing girls.

This board is so fucking retarded sometimes.

I was given some gay "warning" talking about the quality of the board declining because of it.

Who even mods this shit? It wasn't even NSFW. You retards post pictures of near 100% naked hoes holding fish given to them by men to pose with and I get reported?

Do any of you fags have a sense of humor? It's was an obvious joke. Second gay ass warning I have been given for obvious jokes yet everyone blabs about hating niggers and Asian pier fishermen.

Truly retarded.

I hate this shit. This lake is really shallow close to shore so every single cast and the hooks come up covered in that stringy algae. Texas rigged stuff is almost worse than weedless stuff because it gets all around the weight and worm hook.

Please never post here again.
>>
>>946391
>>946393
It was an obvious and vicious slur against someone on the board, in direct reply to them, not against random entities. It also broke the global rule about trolling. You need to think about what you are posting. This website is for adults after all.
>>
>>946396
>VICIOUS SLUR DIRECTED AT SOMEONE
>Obvious joke banter about bepis being gay for posting cute girls instead of fish anus

> pick one dumb duck

Yeah okay bud. You must be a Mormon or Jesus Christ. That or your actually gay and cry about the word fag but never report anyone on here for calling people niggers or saying all the Vietnamese fishermen on their pier need to be killed.

Again. Never post here again. You won't be missed. You're like a fat mom who kills fun whenever she can find it because she hates her own life.

If you genuinely think that joke wasn't funny your life must be depressing.
>>
>>946396
>random entities
>someone on the board
>on an anonymous image board

Yeah makes sense.

Everyone talking about jizzing on Pepsi's sister is okay though. Only when we use the word fag will you report us. Because you're a fag.

Oh no a vicious SLUR better hit report before your fee fee's shift it maximum over trigger.

But wait. You can't report me. Because you're not a trip fag or posting with a name so it must be against random entities not you. Kill nigs and kikes and chinks. That's okay. As long as I don't hurt your feelings.

I'm not quite sure you understand what a joke is. If it was reported and you were warned, it means the staff also thought it was appropriate. That is at least two people. Then you have people dissing you ITT about it. Perhaps you don't' understand how worksafe boards like /out/ work.
>>
>>946405
I'm not quite sure you're not a retard.

All the naked fish bitches are not worksafe. The kill nigger talk and spic talk everyone says or killing Asian pier fishermen isn't "work safe".

But somehow joking about a person being GAY for POSTING WOMEN and NOT fish in a FISHING THREAD is not a joke and violates rules and is not work safe.

Sure dude. Kill yourself.

I like using willow blades for spoons. they have a great wobble. if you need a little added weight you can use a split shot in front of the spoon (but it sometimes tangles) or add a little tungsten powder to epoxy and fill in the back side of the blade. it doesnt impair the action too much and will be easier to cast.

Including my guys there is 3 total outfits on the lake that I'm at. here in Canada we have much more, and better restrictions than you do in the US I would imagine. Al ot of the fish we get is sold locally, and where we fish isn't used by hookers like yourself. There's still tons of recreational fishing on that lake and it's been fine for years and years due to proper wild life management, don't get angry at me if you can't understand this, I bet you don't hunt either.
>>
>>946519
Lol. I just shot rabbit this weekend for stew.

Netting fish fucks shit up. No way to argue that. People over fish. Even regulated fishing doesn't work when it's a net production event or done in mass with line and hook. Fish populations are crashing.

Over 80% of the big fish in the waters are gone. Fish already have genetically downsized to stay under catch limit sizes so now the limits and slots are all mysteriously getting smaller. Nothing is going to be left.

Read a book called Cod and a book called Four Fish.

Don't talk to me like I'm a retard you maple leaf syrup degenerate.

Over half of all eaten fish is farmed these days and it's going to get worse and even more expensive as the good wild fish die off.

Enjoy your glory days. It's not going to be here long. I went to school for zoology focused on fishery biology and aquatic conservation so please tell me more about the subject.
>>
>>946527
You sound like a very educated guy who is upset right now because of your environmental concerns and I respect that.

However I doubt that you have any knowledge on the lake/area I fish, and doubt you have anything worth noting about management of said body of water. Commercial fishermen care more about the lake then you or whatever other tree hugging hippies. Of course there is a decline in fish worldwide, however I don't think commercial fishing on the specific lake I am at is contributing to it, there are other factors at play. Do I think it should be allowed everywhere? definitely not. Do I think that there are places where its a valuable form of income for rural residents and doesn't have a huge impact on the lake? Yes.

>tfw flooding again
>have lots and lots of time to fish right now

Yesterday and the day before were the perfect days for fishing. Huge front came through. Now everything is flooded to hell and back. The absolute worst time to try to fish. I hate it when life gets in the way of fishing.

Does this happen for saltwater bros? Is there any time short of a rare hurricane that you can't be out fishing and catch something due to shitty weather.
>>
>>946650
Depending where you are fishing in saltwater, the tide makes a huge difference so you really have to follow those. Or the runs of fish like how the stripers go up the Atlantic coast in the summer. So it is still similar to freshwater how timing and weather makes a difference.
>>
>>946530
>commercial fishing is destroying fisheries

Not him but a different anon who knows a bit about managing (smaller) lakes

I don't have information on larger lakes ( though the same theory's apply). Or on commercial fishing.
But what I do know is it's important to fish lakes
Lakes that don't get fished get stunted unless the ballences are absolutely perfect ( and they aren't ever)
And one fish population overrunning a lake is possible
I'm generally against alot if not all of commercial fishing using nets etc due to bicatch and other reasons
But I can understand that it's important to sometimes remove fish from a lake to better it in the long run

Shit there are lakes that are commercially fished for perch and you go there to fish normally and you still can't catch anything other than perch
>>
>>946650
I'm a freshwater anon but I always recommend fishing in the rain ( for trout)
My largest trout ever was caught in the middle of a huge storm
And my theory is the rain on the water top when it starts sounds just like the fish feed from the hatchery. And it gets the fish all worked up
>>
>>946673
Yeah, I try to plan my fishing before and during a front. The larger the pressure change the better. The best time I had was while fishing for channel cats during a 75mph driving rain, lightning storm. we had lightning dancing all over the place and caught over 150 channel cats all over 10lbs. The 4 largest I took home where between 20lbs and 25lbs.

It is the storm itself and it works for all animals. Pets, deer, peccary, etc all come out and eat like mad when there's a big front coming. After it passes, everything is really mellow and no one eats nearly as much.
>>
>>946671
Lol. Lakes that get commercially fished have a direct stunting effect. Netting kills all the forage and stunts fish in that way as well because of all the shad and bait kills by gill nets or bottom drags. Fishing for keeper size fish also causes fish to genetically downsize (stunt) in response to sexually mature fish being culled for food at a certain size. It imposes an artificial selection of the target species fish in the netted lake as well as destroying forage.

The reason those lakes are over run with small perch is because all the keeper perch have been culled and the only ones passing genetics along twice a year are smaller fish that sexually mature earlier in life and avoid the artificial size number places on them by fish and game or another governing body.

Salmon sizes have dropped comically all over the world where they are commercially caught.

The only fishery I can think of where adult fish are caught at their natural historic size are fucking lampreys.
>>
>>946694
Lampreys are fished commercially?

They dry them and smoke them. Pretty oily fish but I have had them before. They are pretty decent. Remind me of smoked eels I have had.

This is correct, on the lake I fish (which is the 4th or 5th largest fresh water lake in North America) there is actually been a problem with an over abundance of pike, alot of scientists believe this is from the lack of commercial fishing that's been there for for the past 5ish years, because pike are aggressive they literally take out anything spawning, over the past few years populations of pickerel in areas that are fished have improved. Remote areas up north although have basically nothing.

Because we've been fucking with lakes for this long we can't just "let nature take its course" anymore.

some of the biggest fish Ive caught were caught pre-storm and during a storm. some folks say the calm before the storm is the best time to fish.

ive taken tours of quite a few farms and aquaculture facilities. they fish were fed pellet food like purina fish chow.
>>
>>946768
That's what the show you. Tilapia often spend their mature stage in the waste water bins before it gets recirculated or overflows into a drain. Lots of them probably just eat pellet diets their whole life. Most trout do. That's why trout powerbait nugs work so well.

There isn't anything wrong with it. I just find it funny people don't know they eat shit. It doesn't cause them to concentrate PCBs in their flesh or anything. PCB and pollution in flesh are caused by the primary feed. Farmed salmon have that problem because what they get fed bait fish wise is high in it compared to natural varied diet of wild salmon.
>>
>>946768
Most pellet foods are made up of waste from other industries.

>>946739
Swai and basa are the worst polluted fish that is farmed.

>>946763
>>946768
Also, tilapia are used because they can live on many different types of feed and are less harmed when feed is suddenly switched.

>>946772
The pollution concentrates because of the products used in the food pellets are higher order on the food chain. The pollution in them isn't all that bad, but it is far higher than what those fish species ever eat in their natural environment. Because of that, farmed fish pollution content is far greater than their natural counterparts.
>>
>>946795
Pellet foods are mostly made up of fish meal and poultry meal
Meaning mostly ground bones, skin, meat and innards like heart etc
Same shit most pet food is made out of
>>
>>946795
All predatory fish accumulate PCBs and "pollution". Google bioaccumlation of PCBs and Mercury in fish in the food chain. You have a somewhat skewed understanding of how it works.

>>946808
Feeding tilapia fish pellet that are made from higher order predator fish (like tuna scraps) means the tilapia are now the top of that food chain and receiving all the pollution those predator fish eat. Laws had to be rewritten because of this stuff.
>>
>>946825
It's not even just from higher order fish. Even feeding them shrimp bits and small bait fish scrap causes it friend. It's unavoidable of the feed catch has been through polluted waters during its life

100lbs of tuna pellets are going to have more heavy metals than 100lbs of shrimp pellets.
>>
>>946834
Yes. That's obvious but it happens even without it. I understand the principles but chicken meal and other mammal product has the same issues that's widely used now. More so with antibiotics.

Just because your fish hasn't eaten tons of tuns doesn't mean you won't get concentration of heavy metals and organic toxins in farmed fish. They are grown out super fast on concentrated feeds. Menhaden meal is very very common feed additive.

>I agree. Don't trust companies or farms. It's low wage workers who turn a blind eye because they get free fish and need a job. They don't report violations.

I've worked in food prep before. I always did everything by the book because I did not want to be responsible for harming someone because of lax standards. However, nearly all my coworkers did something habitually that was against health regulations. I made one report. From that report an inspection was done. They actually found maggots about 6 inches down into the tub of sausage toppings for pizza. The place didn't get shut down, no one lost their job from that, things trudged on. For about 2 weeks, more importance was placed on health standards. After that, everything went back to "normal". Things were pretty much that way at every place I've worked at and what my friends worked at. Sometimes a place was really good clean establishments and other times you had to wipe maggots off tables.

I've been sick, from eating out before on more than one occasion. I can only imagine that it is because of things like I mentioned above. I don't eat out anymore. I farm, hunt, and fish almost exclusively now.

Dont worry. I'm the zoology anon. I know all this shit. It's why I quit working in fisheries biology and in fish farming. It's just sponsored money making by dupont and Monsanto to maximize profit over food health and safety.

That being said. Being over weight poses more danger to your health as does smoking and drinking which half of the people on this board are/do. So if you're going to drink cokes and smoke and eat butter sticks you might as well eat farmed fish you fat bastards. Your heart, lungs, and liver will give out before the pesticides, heavy metals, and organic toxins, give you cancer or fuck up your endocrine system.

>dupont and Monsanto

Yeah, I noticed that when I did research for aquaculture in my own pond. I was trying to figure out a way to reduce pollution and costs. That lead me to seed subsidies from the government for soy and such if you bought from the big seed companies. Due to water temperature, I was limited to species that I couldn't sustain in a healthy manner. Thus, I dropped that line of research and decided to just go out and fish instead. I'll eat from the cleaner waters and species that are on the low end of the food chain with less fat in them.

Carp would be great, but they have so much fat they end up worse off than catfish.

You can get some bass on them too, dont think panfish lures are only for panfish. Actually I think most game fish will hit curly tail grubs too.

You can also fish weedless rigs like a texas rigged worm if your conscious about cost. A pack of plastic worms is like 2.50, got this hook assortment for bass at walmart for like $5 and has some good offset + EWG hooks in there. Youd want some weight like bullet sinkers. Rig it all right and you shouldnt be losing them unless you really tangle it bad somewhere, like a tree branch.

You can catch perch, crappie, and bluegill fine in winter too. Ive seen a crappie strike at a lure once in a cold pond when I was just reeling it ontop.

>stimulator, talk to the fly shop
>foam beetle or grasshopper, whatever sizes you think look right

To fish
>look it up

If you see bugs flying around, try the dry fly that mimmocks them best
If not, pick up rocks and use what looks most like the bugs stuck on the bottom
If you don't have that exact size, use a slightly smaller fly than whats flying around
You can get more flies or less, if money is tight just get adams, pheasant tail, elk hair caddis, and wooly bugger.

That's a cluster fuck. I was asking if anyone has used a hitch extender they liked. You're the retard trying to get me to wrap a kayak like a burrito and put bungee mesh all over it. Would you seriously want to risk 2K in equipment to a tarp and some some bungee cords? Please stop talking. The amount of work you are suggesting is nearing mental retardation.

>>947654
Well...it's a 2 door wrangler so it's not gonna be in the wind with a hitch extension. This other retard wants me to lift a 120lb Kayak with another 200 pounds of gear into on the roof of a wrangler. I understand it's possible to lift the bitch onto a roof but and good Yakima mount system is going to be way more costly than a hitch or cheaper trailer. I'm a welder so I can make a custom one if I have to in order to make it work with the baby bed on my wrangler but I have NEVER seen a video of someone throwing a fully loaded pro angler onto a roof. You're a tard as well. The boat is already insured as is the equipment in case of accidents or sinking. As I have said. If I have to get a trailer I will. I just would rather not have to trailer it. I got rid of my tracker because it's annoying trailering it and I got tired of paying for boat gas and motor work.

Again. If you read. I live in ARIZONA. It takes me an hour so to get to get to the good lakes on MOUNTAIN roads. So please stop being a dumb ass. An extra 30 minutes to an hour to put all the shit into and out of kayak for fishing is a lot of wasted time per day. I often camp at lakes to add to my fishing time since it's such a trip to get there. So please just go continue to bank fish for dink bass and tell someone else what to do with their boat.

Thank you for giving me an actual answer Jesus christ. I don't know what everyone has a problem about.

This guy >>947813 is just but mad his idea is retarded. Also silica beads won't stop salt water fom trashing your tackle. It needs to be washed and dryed or hit with oil after. You're being a big fag to me but I will say you can order packs of them in mass online from amazon and eBay and for fresh water they work decent if you don't keep your tackle next to salty plastics and shake it pretty dry before it goes into the tackle box. Jigs and spinner baits hold a lot of water so really shake them off. I keep a small towel with me stuck to my belt loop with a cheap carabiner to dry shit off and wipe my hands.

I was wanting to see if anyone had a bed extender they liked. I see you have a truck but do you think for a 14 foot yak that it wouldn't have enough support inside the wrangler or it would be okay? I obviously have a lot less bed space and have to remove my rear trunk door and what not but still.

You have been a big retard the whole thread. Have you ever seen one of those kayaks in person dude? They are fucking massive. Even loading one in a truck bed is going to be a bitch.

The yak guy who responded was at least reasonable. A pro angler isn't a 30 pound Kevlar yak or a 40 pound sit on top non peddle driven yak. Look at the new native fishing yak. It's a monster like the hobie.

You could get a hobie outback or the more narrow one on the roof but you can't stand in those unless the water is glass.

The knife goes in, the guts come out. Be sure to scrape the liver out, it's the black shit that gets everywhere, can't miss it.

I butcher 10lb salmon and halibut at work a lot and it's not that hard, albeit they are mostly gutted when they get there. It's easy to make salmon steaks, which are essentially cross-sections.
>scrape the scales off of the skin, keep your mouth shut because that shits flies everywhere

>with a large knife cut off the head just behind the gills, depending on the freshness and size of the fish you may need a mallet for this, cut until your blade stops and then carefully smack the back of the blade through the spine.
>continue cutting through the spine using this method at the desired thickness, if you can get through the spine without a hammer, great it's more gentle on the meat. Don't press too hard though, forcing blades are the best way of seriously injuring yourself.
>once the chest cavity begins to close near the tail stop cutting steaks and instead dig a fillet knife in along the spine and cut out along the bone towards the back and belly. This takes practice and a really sharp knife and the resulting fillets will probably look like shit, but waste not.
>Head and tail are apparently good for soup, freeze them for later.
>As you're cutting keep in mind that a fish has more friction backward than forward, if your fish is slipping off the table, flip it around and the force going against the grain of it's skin will stick it in place somewhat.
>carefully pick out the pin-bones along the stomach cavity of the steaks before serving.

I'm sure different fish are all butchered slightly differently but this is all I know. Be sure to use a chain mail or blade resistant glove on your off-hand.

not the "kid" guy but the op asked a question then added on some other things such as that he wanted the yak to be fully loaded with #200 of gear while traveling which certainly made me question credibility.

a finder just snaps on and off.
which is no problem doing at the dock.
micro pole anchor folds flat for travel. flip the knob on the end and it fold up.
which is no problem doing at the dock.
a blackpack or cellblock holding your tackle and gear can all go in the car as can the rods and reels. All of this can be loaded and rigged in 2 minutes, at the dock.
op wants it all rigged while traveling which is absurd, including a "heavy battery" which he should upgrade. (my batt is 14lbs and powers a finder and shark barrier. not heavy) and this would all be lifted onto a hitch extension.
nigga needs to get a trailer and go fishing instead of bragging about the shit he has but cant handle. and even then he will learn why most people dont keep their yaks or boats fully rigged while traveling.

tl:dr?
>op should make his bf help him load the yak

what the difference between them and any other small plastic bait, like tubes and curly tail grubs? They all seem so similar to me, all go on jigs, etc

They any good mate?

The only predators we get in the UK are pike, perch and zander.
To get a good pike you gotta use something a log bigger than those lures.
What size fish do you get on those lures?
>>
any of you wonderful people want to find me a where to buy a lure?
i cant find it anywhere and am stuck on mobile

Wut are you trying to do?

>>948132
Yeah. YuroFan got me one for the Secret Santa. They are just lipless cranks but have really good action. They're heavy so you get a long cast and then ripping em through the water fairly quick has been doing work.

heavy rain also chops up the water, combined that with dark storm clouds lowers visibility underwater... makes them less spooky and more easily fooled by an artificial lure.

I'd add size 18-22 zebra midges to this list. drop them about 18 inches under a copper john or pheasant tail
>>
>>947850
Unfortunately
>>947773
Not much of one
I stuff them in to my back pack and let them stick out a bit. I'm about to buy 20mm ammo cans to.use as saddle bags though, and when I do that I'll use U bolts and PVC pipe (painted black) to build rod holders. Then I can slip on a swivel hitch, ultralight trailer, cheap kayak on top, rock and roll
(I figure if a pedal bike can drag a kayak I can get one rolling pretty good too)
>>947771
Depends. If it was just one morning I wake up.magically transformed, no.
If it was for a government study and I would be provided everything I need to function normally thst I would have to get custom made, and my family knew about it, then yes
>>948037
That sounds glorious

Mods, can we get something like that?
>>948055
Probably either pheasant tail nymphs or poppers
>>948061
>kill
A few options
>put it in the cooler snd pretend you dont hear it suffocating/freezing to death
>club it in the head
>"spike it"
Just Google spiking it
Its up to you to decide when you kill it
If you have a cooler, kill it and keep it on ice
If not, stringer, keep them alive
>cleaning
A few choices
>filet
>steak
>pan dress
Youtube can show any of those you want
>>948171
