kayak is so fucking fun, both inland and at coast. bring stuff too heavy for backpack, like beers, large axe and iron pan. maybe extra kayak, so i can pick up a mate with shrooms. lsd is better for making any worthwhile distance though. protip: even the shittiest kayak is better than no kayak, get one faggot. i would almost say it is worth having a car just to move it to and from the water. i'm wondering about getting another shitty kayak just like the one i already have (pic related) for coupling them as a catamaran, maybe with a sail or something.

I bought mine before winter so I didnt get to use it much but I find it fun, only done some lake fishing but going to use it for getting into boat only access sites or make my own camps.

Im looking to buy a kayak for spearfishing. I want something that is stable enough to get in and out of regularly (so sit on top) and has a decent amount of storage, also the cheaper the better. Im on a tight budget.
Any suggestions?

Don't buy a kayak to fit it as a pontoon, way too much drag. You want something long and slender if you plan on doing that

A bunch of my mates want to go on a kayak/canoe fishing trip where we camp where we pull up for an evening i'm pretty keen to try it. My only concern is gear if the thing capsizes but I'll buy a bag for my electronics.

Just got mine at xmas myself. Looks like the exact same model I got. Did my research and decided i would just get a basic bitch SOT 10ft to start till i got more a feel for what i wanted. Only previous experience was renting for day trips but it got me hooked. Already done a few miles on the lake a couple times, good fun
Sea eagle 370 lol. Its fun to stuff it in a Miata trunk

I want to get one of the pedal driven models and head up on the Bruce Peninsula.

this is exactly what i want to do also. get a kayak for diving and snorkeling. im looking at hobie mirage drives. they are kind of expensive but seems really stable and fast. plus they have a rudder so you can track straight. seems to be the go to set up for kayak fishing too.

Looks gimmicky as fuck mate, apparently Newcastle has some awesome custom kayak/canoe shop that sells them for super reasonable prices. Which I'll need since I'm tall and it seems like buying one to fit me will be a pain.
I have a Pelican castaway 116 that I love. It's several years old but in great shape, till the squirrels decided to chew a hole in the bottom of it near the bow.
Now I have to find a way to fix it. I don't want to have to buy another one cause I'm a poorfag right now.

You need to make your kayak great again.
Tell those fucking squirrels that it's time to build a patch and THIER going to pay for it!

When I was researching a yak for spearfishing off of everyone seemed to say you should go for a Scupper Pro if you can find one. I found two on CL for $600. Those things are so smooth, especially when coming from a pos wide 10 footer.

>camp on island off the coast
>wake up early to fish
>paddle back to island to feast
Good times

Op here paddle the other day very peaceful great way to get to out of the way spots. Currently starting to do bays and esturies too i find 12foot is a good length for gear and stability.

Scupper Pro is the one I came across alot too, none on CL in my area unfortunately. I'm looking at the Ocean Kayak Prowler 13ft or their 11ft model. Its the same brand as the Scupper Pro and I have heard good things about there products.

i'm going to place some footing on top of both, so it's supposed to be like a catamaran with the sail in the middle, maybe some storage room underneath

love canoeing with a long and broad kayak paddle every time except when it's too windy. it looks like you are sitting in the wrong seat, when alone in canoe the mass will be more centered if you ride them "in reverse". maybe it's different if using a trolling motor, idk. a real kayak is way faster then going single in a canoe though

looks like it will break if it tips

had a ok trident ultra 4,7. it was okay, but i sold it because it was way too expensive for what it did compared to a regular shitty kayak. all sit on tops are slow, and unless your plan is to paddle long distances with someone in a sleeker kayak, hull shape won't be of such great importance. not worth the 1k$ difference to me anyways. many expensive fishing canoes also have a big hole under the boat for fish finders that create alot of drag, beware. this also becomes a natural weak point against rocks and it's where the hull material is thinnest also.

I have a Perception Triumph 13 for touring and an RTM Abaco for fishing. Frikkin' love it, best way to chill out.

A Jackson Kraken does all of that and is sea-worthy.
