The dicks where I live has awesome prices on their camping gear. A lot of it has been on clearance. I bought a .8lb inflatable sleeping pad from them for an extra 10% off clearance because it didn't have the carry sack or repair kit that it was supposed to have. Both of which I either have or can get fairly cheap.

Does anybody know what exactly is going on with Sports Authority and Academy?

Dick's bought out Sports Authority, right? What confuses me is since SA closed dowb, I have been seeing Academy trucks driving around South Florida a couple times even though the closest Academy is in Jacksonville or some shit. And then the other day I saw an Academy truck pulling out of a Sports Authority. So my two theories are Academy is taking over some Sports Authority stores or Academy is buying up their old stock.

And the strange thing is the SA stores closed months ago but they haven't done shit to the stores aside from locking the doors. Signs are still up and everything.

Depends where you work. You could probably get a job as a cashier or stocking even if you are 17 years old and haven't ever had a real job. They might hire you for sales if you know what you are talking about. My first real job in HS was at Petsmart and I sold fish and lizards and birds and shit to people so I don't see why you couldn't sell some neckbeard a couple overpriced trekking poles.

Woah, something I have relevant input to! I work at the town center dicks in jax, and after TSA closed they let other retailers bid on individual locations. Dicks went after the stores in Miami where TSA was a stronghold, while Academy focused on smaller locations on the outskirts of Orlando. I know for dicks, we only bid on the location, not any remaining inventory. Academy may have been different in what they got. Hope that helps answer some of it!

Makes sense. I'm guessing the one where I saw the Academy trucks, they are probably taking the inventory. It was in Boca and the Sports Authority almost looked like it was still open but just closed for a holiday. Plus that SA was like directly across the street from a Dick's. And then the other Academy truck was down in Miramar getting back on the Turnpike going north so they probably grabbed the old stock from a Pembroke Pines store.

I hope they open some Academy stores around here, especially since Sports Authority stopped selling fishing stuff at 98% of the stores around here years back.
