I'm not gonna say arkansas is great, but I'll tell you about hunting laws.

For $25 you get 6 deer tags and 2 turkey tags. You can also harvest 1 bear, but they are pretty rare and can only be hunted in certain places. This hunting liscense let's you hunt everything but waterfowl. We have over a million acres of public land and some of it isn't hunted that heavily. Trapping permits are also free.

Too many Californians get pissy when the land access isn't the same as it is in their state.

Yes, there is very little in the way of free public access to land in Texas. However, if you live here and you've got any social skill at all you should be capable of getting permission from a landowner to go onto their land.

Even without that we've got almost 100 state parks, a bunch of wildlife management areas, 3 long-distance trails, 4 national forests, 3 national grasslands, a huge number of reservoirs, and every single one of our beaches is public.

Yeah man, massive swaths of land where you can do whatever you want hundreds of miles from the next person are for casuals. Real outdoorsman go to the east coast and pay an entry fee for a tiny park that's 20 minutes from a major highway, or camp in their own backyard.

Mississippi can't be a 2. We have so many drifters and tent dwellers who stay up in de Soto hunting and fishing during the summer and hitching rides to louisiana. Then go up north or go back west during the fall. Mississippi is a hub for all the fringe /out/ists, who met up and travel the coast or up 49 to stone co.

What a goddamned terrible thread.

Kentucky is easily the best.

The great thing about Louisiana is that if you aren't in New Orleans or Shreveport, all the cities have swamps running through them or very close.

I live in Baton Rouge, and it takes like 40 minutes to be in batfuck middle of no where, plus Baton Rouge is mostly rural suburbs, my backyard is 2 acres as is most back yards on the outskirts, and you got manchac bayou running straight through the heart of the city

The tiers look like they're based solely on how much government owned land there is.
>>

with exception of the south east part of Louisiana, yeah pretty much, hard to call New Orleans texas like, but yeah everything west of Lafayette is pretty much East Texas
>>
>>943534
But the complete isolation... One summer I chartered a flight to a cabin that was hundreds of miles of mountains away from any other settlement for a week. Every day, I woke up to the sunrise at around 4 am, went hiking until I found a good fishing hole, caught unbelievably huge trout and salmon, ate the fish I caught when I was hungry, and that was my whole life for a week. It was perfect. I had to deal with bears and mosquitoes, but that was nothing. I ate what I could catch/forage, and didn't see a single human until the pilot came to get me 6 days later. I have never spent a winter in Alaska and that might change my mind, but ever since that trip, my goal has been to buy undeveloped land, build a small cabin, live off the land and never see another human until I starve, freeze or get rekt by a large animal. That's the dream at least

Since August, I've backpacked Daniel Boone, Hocking Hills, Cranberry Wilderness, the Catskills, White Mountain NF, Zion NP, GrandCanyon NP, and Rocky Mountain NP. The only three I've paid for permits were the last three. Please, explain to me what a park is, fuckstick.

What a coincide, only the last three are NATIONAL PARKS. Here's an example that hopefully is simple enough: you have to pay an entrance fee for Glacier National Park, and you generally need permits for backcountry camping. If you go to the Bob Marshall Wilderness just to the south, you pay no such fee and can camp wherever you please.

I live 45 minutes away from new orleans and never go, for mardi gras i travel in a group of 10-15 people because of how dangerous it is

No one will tell you, but there are people held at gun point not daily, but every 2-3 days

It is a great city with almost too much culture, but the crime has gotten out of hand, plus new orleans isn't as good when you know all the good places and little towns in Southern LA

Pic related, it's open to the public and literally no one knows about it, nice to bring a beer and relax for hours
