Going out for an overnight tomorrow on the Loyalsock Trail in PA.

No goal for a distance, just going out with a buddy, hiking a distance, setting up camp, drink some good bourbon, and hike out the next day.

I'm at 20 lbs even, with 2 days of food, and 2 smaller bottles of bourbon, about 500ml . Not ultralight, but how am I doing? (I'm 6'1" 220 lbs).

R8 my W8, M8

Others post your pack and it's weight, so others can rate and belittle you until you cut a few lbs.

Should have broke it down before putting it together and gave us that photo.

None the less, I'm jealous of the poles and pack. IMHO if it's just an overnight camp and you don't have a far destination I say carry as much as you think you can.

I haven't weighed my out at all but the pack and bags are budget as fuck, those are two of my 3 big purchases this year, the third being a 20F or lower underquilt.

well then fuck, bring some real food. with only 1 night you don't have to worry about refrigerating, and at 20 pounds an extra 2-3's no big deal, so bring some meat and fresh vegetables for dinner, and eggs for breakfast, and proper cookware.
>>

I exclusively use my Sierra Sniveler in my hammock, but it has attachment points that you could strap a pad to it, and it would work just fine as a quilt for the ground.
>>
>>940888
huh. cool, thanks.

How cold would you take that thing? Also- does the head hole leak much warmth when you're using it? Does it work well as aponcho?

I have mixed feelings about this girl. Mostly positive, but something is off.
>>
>>941008
It's rated for 20-25 F, I would trust it to that for sure. Some people could squeeze a few degrees out of it into the teens, I'm not one of them.

The head hole is not really even noticeable. There's no air that passes through in quilt use. I've only even wore it as a poncho once to try it. Neat idea, and great if you got super cold, but not something Id use often.

It was a low of about 27, we were towards the top of a small canyon, so the wind was gusting pretty strong at times, so it felt a little colder. I stayed nice and warm all night. Stayed toasty with my quilts. I added my DIY insulated top sock system before I left because I knew the wind would be strong, which added like 2 lbs, but was worth it.

>>943076
It's a shemagh famalam, I'd recommend it. They are cozy and can be used to carry a good amount of wood to bring back to camp, several other uses as well. If you end up getting one be sure it's the "large" variant.

>>943288
What you don't like shooting guns? What are you, gay?
>>
>>943412
Wouldnt you get splinters in it? Isn't a shemagh a headwrap thing? I think i might just for the extra warmth/sun protection.
>>
>>943499
I've never had a problem with that, I mean every so often I get a twig or debris left over but most of it comes out with a good shake. You can use them as scarves, head wraps, tourniquets, splits, for carrying stuff, etc. It's also fucking awesome during the summer to dunk it in a river and put it around your neck, cools ya down real good.
>>
>>943526
Fuck yeah, any guides to buying? Cotton and decent size is it right? Also thanks for the advice Oakuir.
>>
>>943531
They're just a scarf, and kind of a meme. /k/ guys like them because they feel like they're some special ops in Afghanistan or some bullshit, but there's a reason you never see actual hikers and backpackers wearing them.
