K /out/ convince me why my first non rental car shouldnt be a older subaru impreza wrx sti and not other options ie truck/different companies/models. Note im a a calicuk so i dont really need a pickup or suv,All wheel drive vastly preffered bonus points for sportier vehicles and your idea of a decent city car capable off light/medium offroad and snowy terrain

WRX is for gofast.
Pls go /o/.
honda crv.
i have a 2004 and i rally it all over the sierra, and get 26 mpg the rest of the time.
admittedly not sporty at all, but i bought it because it has awd, good ground clearance, gets good mpg, and has tons of interior room for not too much exterior room, and it's never let me down.
and i love the looks when my stock cute-ute pulls up behind a lifted jeep 12 miles down a haggard forest service "road"

I had a 2005 WRX I bought brand new in 2005.
It was an awesome car. Loved it. Added a navigation system, new speakers and a small bass tube in the trunk. Did 18" wheels, turbo back exhaust and ECU flash (stage 2), and modded intake silencer.
It was very quick, fun to drive, amazing in snow, and pretty practical (4 doors, big trunk, ect). I know the STI is faster, but the ride is much much harsher. Adding a few light mods to a regular WRX, and you're just as fast as the STI with a nicer ride. To each his own though. I only didn't have an STI because I couldn't afford it.
Sold it for a 2004 CTS-V, which was much better and much worse than the WRX, but that's another thread. I drive a pickup truck now so what do I know.

You asked us to convince you why, this car can't go off road. But since you gottagofastdurr then go ahead and buy it you twerp.
80's toyota tercel 4wd
got mine for $700 8 years ago still get over 30mpg good in the snow
I owned a WRX... late model. The motor blew at 30k miles, and the dealer and Subaru corporate played this good-cop-bad-cop charade and jerked me around for a few weeks. They didn't want to honor the warranty. Never hooned it, always had the oil done early, at the dealership. Zero modifications.
In retrospect, I should have hooned the loaner car that they gave me for a month and a half.
Sold it for top dollar, sight unseen to a dealer on a trade.
My advice: Don't. But if you must, buy new, don't modify it, and you can sell it in a few years for nearly what you paid for it. And be scrupulous about the maintenance. Document everything, don't do anything yourself.

FUCKING BUY WHAT YOU WANT
got a vw sportwagen last year and it's been working great for all my outdoor junk. Relatively cheap, super gas mileage, easy maintenance, tons of room for gear, can sleep in the back, and has been working well during this first MN winter (need to get snow tires though).
Plus if you dont care you can get the older diesel models for mega cheap since vw cheated

What would you think about a diesel bmw
>>937891
because you know those ads that say only "adult driven", a used wrx wont be like that. it'll be driven hard by some too fast, too goofiest, gearhead kid that probably modded it and ragged it out.
>>940865
Yeah since they've gotten cheaper, they are driven by a lot of idiots. When I had mine in 2005 they were a little pricey for a teen to buy, so they were better taken care of. Still driven by 20 somethings (like me), but that's better than a teen driver.
I was a teen driver once. My poor Ford escort ZX2 took a lot of abuse.

Fuck you fuck cars cars arent /out/

Just get a dodge Durango for on road hooning. Or get the Durango RT if you want bother on road and offfroad hooning.
Either way make sure it is a V8.

How much worse would a v6 do
>>940862
>diesel
Fuck off
What the fuck is hooning? And watch it hasn't been thrashed by some Paul Walker wannabe - be warned, they come in all age brackets. They older boy racers are often worse because they think they know own what they're doing and they have some cash to throw about.
