Let's see some of your favorite pics that you took yourself while in the California wilderness. I took pic related at Shaver Lake in the Sierra Nevadas back in November.

This one I took a week later a few miles from the location of the first pic.

Only pic of cali. I got.
>>

Pic related is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in October.
>>
I wanted to like it but didn't. Appalachian forests are just so much better, how can California hope to compete?
>>
>>937774
I would like to see the Appalachians someday, but I think I would still prefer California.
>>
This pic was taken at Morro Bay during the Summer.
>>
>>937774
Terrain is more interesting in California. Trees are more interesting in Appalachia, especially in fall.

Possibly, I spent most of my time around the upper Kern river, though I went into the plateau around blackrock mountain and west to alta sierra area quite a few times.

The firewatch towers are badass, I got to talk to a few of the guys who man them. Im not big on people but it takes a special kind of person to work that job.

To be fair, I hate California's politics. The landscape is amazing though. Luckily I live in a very conservative town.
>>
Socal man yearning to start hiking in the wilderness. Any good places around LA? I'm talking I want to go forest hiking, I heard Santa Cruz has some good spots. Also does anyone have an /out/ list guide to things you need for hiking? Like recommended shoes?
>>
>>941793
Like just hiking or camping? Cause thats a big difference
>>
>>941853
Just hiking for now. I will work my way up to camping. Honestly I just want to hike for a few hours, find a nice spot to chill, take pictures smoke some pipe tobacco and then hike back to my car. Like a full day vacation. Eventually i'd work my way to full blown camping. My end goal is to hike all of Catalina. Love that island.
>>
>>941882
If you're just doing day hikes then just old beaters are fine and dandy
>>
>>937771
western or eastern foothills? I was in Columbia in October
>>
>>937774
The many redwood forests along the California coastline are pretty un-beatable.
The California section of the PCT is just staggering
>>
>>941882
You're in Northern Cali? I have many suggestions
>>
I'm driving from Los Angeles to Oregon soon and I'm going to take my time heading up th coast on the pacific highway, what should I see?
>>
>>937763
So I'm not an /out/ist but I've been wanting to go camping with my mates sometime this year, and was considering the Sierra Nevadas, or similar innawoods places in the general SoCal area. Where can we go where there aren't a fuckload of people and we could fish and potentially shoot? We'd like to avoid campgrounds.
