I'm sure we've all gotten this kinda shit as gifts, does anyone actually use anything like this? I ended up with this one and it's like, ridiculously heavy for what it does.

By far the worst piece of equipment I've ever used. >>942574
anybody else find it remarkable that anon's name actually is "anon"?
also one thing (pretty much the only thing) i learned from my dad is to keep all that stuff. he was a mechanic so his old aunts etc were always giving him absolute shite k-mart tool kits and stuff. it's never going to be your trusted tool, but it ends-up being useful for a million non-critical jobs and activities over the years.
>>942563
>BoB or Camping/Hiking
As a dedicated cutter it's obviously pants on head retarded for these roles. (Folding/blade profile, edge, thickness, ect)
The other tools aren't very useful because you're not at home/work/urban environment where the tools are most useful.
>EDC
Don't see the problem here. Most people can get away with the cutting ability of a utility blade for EDC so any blade from a decent multitool is going to more than sufficient.
The usefulness of the other tools obviously depends on your lifestyle or occupation. If you frequently use tools in general they can be useful because they may not be perfect but they can be good enough to get a job done without having to retrieve the right tools for the job. In this sense they are a time saver and can save quite a bit of time depending on your profession or hobbies.
If you don't find yourself using tools that often multitools will certainly be not be worth the price/bulk/weight.
>>942576

Not the same fellow. Not triggered either, friend.
Just that declaring canteens cringy, alongside a 10 kilo tent, is rather silly.
>>944824
too small
>>950193
Not all canteen cups are aluminium, friendo.
>>950193
i love the alu hating fags
there was a SUGGESTED link, not proven SUGGESTED...
if you ate from alu plates and cooked in alu pots and pans .... ( and i'll be you use alu foil to cook with sushine) every meal for 25 year i might agree but when in al reality you use a set of camping pans and a mug made from alu for possibly 30 meals a year you can get fucked with your reach.
it's just another industry ploy to boost sales of other stuff. stainless or Ti fags are all over it
>>950359
>my utensils are made out of mother of pearl
and i would call you a douche bag. get /out/
>>950382
Mother of pearl is very light weight. Perfect for packing, or any other use. My entire kitchen is stocked with nothing but mother of pearl. Enjoy your food that tastes like metal though!
>>950427
So are you uploading the pics now?
>>950396
mother of pearl is fucking retarded and if I saw a camper eating with that shit I'd call him out for being such a flaming faggot. decent stainless utensils have no taste. maybe you should stop buying shit at hobby lobby or the dollar store.
and if all else fails eat with wood or bamboo.

you make some good points anon but let's not say things we don't mean
>>950455
But what's the pack weight on that set?
>>950459
dunno, it cracks easily though
>>950460
Doesn't matter to thru-hikers. Those idiots would use paper backpacks if you told them it would save them a quarter of a gram. I'm trying to start a business here.
>>950464
then Im gunna shut up about it, good luck to you
>>950455
Are they durable at all?
Dishwasher safe? Microwave safe? Pls be microwave safe.
>>950467
>>950472
You really are an idiot.
Really.
>>950487
That doesn't help.
I'm just sick of non-microwave safe stuff. Like you know when you microwave some mac n cheese? The inside will still be cold so you gotta stir it, and then when you go to pop it back in for another minute, you got this cheesy fork that you don't know what to do with. I wish I could just leave it in the dish of mac while I nuke it. Maybe those things are just for me.
But if they aren't dishwasher safe, fuck it.
>>950494
No. I neither use microwaves nor eat plastic pasta.
Also, it wasn't meant to help. Idiot.
>>950497
>plastic pasta
They make that now? What's your favorite flavor? I might try that out when I finally finish off this fuckton of Chicken Parm and angel hair pasta I got in my fridge. Every fucking time I reheat some, I don't know what to do with the fork and sauce ends up all over the countertop or I go through like 4 forks.
>>950498
What particular mental disability causes you to masochistically go out of your way to appear completely ignorant to the world around you for the sole purpose of getting the negative attention of complete strangers over the internet? And what caused this desire to be berated? One can only speculate that frequent molestation and physical violence from your sole rolemodel would cause this reaction.
While I am curious, I don't actually care. No one actually cares, and no one ever will care about someone who can only get gratification from masochism.
>>950507
You really don't eat pasta, do you? That red sauce is such a bitch to clean off the counter and stuff if you miss a spot and it dries.
No more (You)s
I'm done with the masochistic attention-seeking.
>>949358
This actually looks pretty useful, it's just a machete with a scythe. Would probably be real good for trail maintenance, clearing bamboo or saplings.
>>950454
sounds like something left a bad taste in your mouth. probably your utensils, huh?
>>950494
Whoa whoa whoa. Do you even know what metallic ions you are introducing into your diet like that?
>>950511
I try to keep the sauce on my pasta. I find it works better that way.
>>950472
MoP is dishwasher safe, i'm not sure about microwave safe, i've never tried it.
>>950498

>>950575
I agree. But you know, microwaves are shitty. If you just throw the whole thing in for 3min, the sauce on the outside is burning hot and the pasta gets all dry, and the middle of the dish is barely even warm. So I nuke for 1:30, stir, and put it in for another 1:30.
Unfortunately after that stir, I'm always challenged as to where I put that saucy fork for the next 90 seconds. I aint tryin to just hold it. If I leave it in the dish, the microwave doesn't like it. If I set it in the sink, there's likely to be a dirty dish in there and I don't want it touching that shit. So I set it on the counter and sauce ends up errywhere. It's terrible.
>>950582
Of course! But it needs to reach eatin temps first. For that to happen, it's gotta go in the microwave.

>>951039
whats the weight profile on that beanie in your pic? does it wick moisture? looks great for filling with power gel and just letting it seep int your brain so you dont lose time eating.
>>951048
That shit don't matter. They are lighter than the hat you have on now and you can use them as an SOS signal!
This is /out/.
Weight Savings > Functionality

It's fucking awesome dude. Mine hasn't broke in 4 years of mediocre use. I highly recommend one

A meme tool is a tool which (1) costs more, or (2) is less effective, than another tool that performs the same function, or (3) introduces unnecessary complications or frills.
>>951387
>>951387
Is this bottle opener a meme tool? It is $400 US if that helps.
The custom knife world devolved into this sort of idiocy several years ago, which is one of the reasons I can't stand most of the people involved in it. At some point it veered away from being about aesthetically pleasing highly capable knives into infatuation with scary looking useless junk made of titanium.
Pic related.

I thought those MUTs were something like $120, maybe a little less. They are nice but bulky to keep in your pocket all day. I think those ones are made to carry along with your AR-15.

lol leatherman
use those pliers a lot in the woods?
>>951802
i bring pliers into the woods. they're really helpful sometimes. I don't take a leatherman though, cause i hate multitools, but what's so bad about 2oz pliers?
