Not the kangee? That spike is great.
SOG fasthawk is pretty affordable and not horrible though.
>>934323
Does anyone have the estwing tomahawk? Been eyein it for a while now.
Mike Hawk is my favorite
>>934323
Really love the aesthetic on this hawk
Ya'll have shit taste in hawks - I prefer mine more theoretical
>>934323
might get one if it wasn't £70 here. Not sure if I like the double edge, either.
There's a red tailed hawk that hangs around my neighborhood but I have to say I'm partial to the marsh hawk.
>>934323
tactical ones
Stealth hawk is best hawk
>>934323
I'm a fan of those crkt wood hawks. Bought the kangee on a whim before a camping trip, ended up liking it a lot. It's pretty solid, with a good amount of heft to get some momentum behind it, and to top it off it was inexpensive. I liked it enough to buy the chogan when i saw it on sale. My biggest gripe with them is they really jam the head on there, to the point were there's shavings bulging out from under the head. Worse yet, the handle is coated with some thick lacquer, which I find unpleasant to grip after you've been working with it for a while.
After a bit of stropping I was able to shave my arm with it too
>>934760
yikes, really? that spike in back annoys the hell outa me. a hammer would be more useful. the full metal handle looks like it'd be murder on the hands
>>934749
that's lovely. is that a modded cold steel?
i've been wanting to get the trail-hawk for a while for the hammer back
>>934828
>really?
yes
>a hammer would be more useful
gotcha
>>934833
>cost thousand + dollars.
Who buys these things? (not implying anything at all)
Is it worth for someone like a soldier? "non-poorfags" is not a great answer. Maybe provide some more detail if that's the response, or not, do your thing.
>>934833
middle left looks like it does not suck for /out/
what the hell is going on with the rest of them though?
>far left
carpentry axe
prybar/spike back
are you gonna bust the door down and then rebuild it?
>middle right
why would you put a long handle on a hammer with a head area smaller than a sledge? what is that even for?
far right is runner up for actually being useful, and blade shape looks like it will cut flesh about as well as wood.
i still wouldn't wanna swing any of these all day (or have to hike them anywhere!) with those full metal tangs.
>>934851
btw, i know about (long handled) framing hammers- this looks bigger than that, and the head looks less usable. and again- you breaking down the door and nailing it back up?
>>934846
Gearfags will buy them, and you see some operators carrying them as breaching tools, tho they probably got them for free from the companies.
I like the looks and would buy one if I had that dosh to spend in no essential shit.
>>934833
that actually looks good
I would be scared of sharpening them tho because I would be grinding away my money
>>934857
How you spend your money is your own business and I've got no judgement regarding it. . If I had 1k+ to blow, I'd probably commission a custom knife for a third of that price. But that obviously isn't a breaching tool or a hammer, and this is a 'hawk' thread.
I do wonder a little bit why the axes/hatches/hawks command high prices. I assume it's the metal? something else?

>I do wonder a little bit why the axes/hatches/hawks command high prices. I assume it's the metal? something else?
Hype plays a large part but some of these are 10mm thick so the metal isn't cheap either.
digusting wastes of money. You're paying more for a loss of utility over robust hatchet. These aren't tools - they're nothing more than man toys. Not that anything's wrong with having a man toy; but god damn, there is a million better ways you can spend that money, even beyond the simple cost/analysis of alternative entertainment/hobby options.

>>934938
this will destroy your hands/wrists with prolonged use
>it's a goddamn tuning fork
Hawkeye
hawkeye again
>>934323
>crkts chogan
you must be kidding, shill
>>935036
Lol XD I use it for a year and is very comfortable to use. Argument is invalid delicate little girl.
>>935170
He did not give any argument..
I like the Rifleman, Frontier, and Norse Hawks from Cold Steel.
Tactical Tomahawks are interesting from a design perspective and usually nice to look at but I'd never buy one.
>>935201
any particular reason not the trail hawk? aesthetics? i'm interested in functionality. if the one's you've listed are better cutters/choppers i'd love to know
>>935208
I have a trail hawk. I've modded mine in the way you usually see by stripping off the shitty coating, fitting the head to the handle properly, and sharpening the blade.
All in all a decent chopper for light wood work, and the hammer pull is a nice feature.
If I had to guess the rifleman hawk is going to be a heavier duty wood chopper simply due to the extra heft, and shape of the head itself.
>>935208
The edge is too short for my preference. It seems like more of a fighting tomahawk than a woodcraft one.
A good woodcraft axe needs to be not only good for chopping, but carving and stock removal too.
I feel like the TrailHawk would pair really well with the Trailmaster though.
Cold Steel Trail Hawk is best buy for money IMO

He didn't give an arguement, he gave honest advice that is spot on. You're just a retard who doesn't know human anatomy.
>>935267
i like the spike hawk best, but probably utility wise the trail is best.
>>934938
Where can you buy that? I can't seem to find a way to do it after some searching.
>>934760
apart from those aren't tomahawks you mongoloid.
>>935267
I have that one, and the sog fasthawk.
I prefer the cold steel over the sog
>>935280
They are tactical/breaching tomahawks.
The line between tomahawk and axe gets blurry when tacticool is added into the mix
>>934323
I have two: RMJ forge loggerhead and a CRKT Chogan.
The RMJ is very nice but I almost hate to use it. I have abused the hogan and it works pretty good for the price. But the balance is off where the more costly RMJ is balanced very well......
>>934323
Rocky Woodland Forge makes an entire woodcraft kit that fits on a tapered tomahawk handle. At $325, it's a bit much for me, but I think I could forge most of the pieces myself.
