Didn't see much in the catalog on the subject, so I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread.
Any advice/experience for general life in AK? I was thinking of moving near a touristy hunting spot for various reasons and was wondering what THE place to be is for the largest variety of sport.

I'm in alaska right now. I live in a very small village of about a hundred people in the middle of the state thats very far from the city, you have to take two planes to get here. I used to live in the largest city for a number of years in the south and I grew up in a small town of about 5000 people in the west. I've only visited as far north as Fairbanks once for a week. I've been to a lot of the surrounding places in the circles I drew on a map. Will you have a boat? A 4 wheeler? A truck? Are you just looking to rent from tourist companies? What are you trying to get into? Hunting? Fishing?

Unless you like working your ass off in the cold, being surrounded by tweakers and having nothing to do other than shoot guns in the forest drunk, then stay home. Alaska sucks.
