what is a survival knife that is all so good for throwing and is the one in the pic a good knife
>>
thats a buck hunting knife, it sure is good, but depends on the application. Throwing? Lol. Treat your knife with respect unless you want to forever get the tip back.
>>
For Suggestion for a good set of throwing knives, i'd recommend a set like the Hibben Next Generation Throwers or Gil Hibben - 7 inch 3 set.

thanks

WoW, first person on /out/ i have seen who does not insult someone for saying something about a knife. Sir, you have my respects (sorry for bad english btw)
>>
>>931772
you probably have to be older than you are to buy a knife, underagefag
>>
>>931772
Glock 78/81 is a decent "try and break me"knife. Cheap as well. Rather well balanced for throwing.

Source: I use and abuse mine as a throwing knife for years, no damage.
>>
>>931772

Becker make great throwing knives. You can beat the shit out of them too.
>>
>>931772
I'm not going to sit here and shit on you for wanting a throwing knife, but I will tell you that knifes that are designed for throwing aren't the same kind of knives that are designed for any other purpose. Your best best is to get a good knife for general use and a separate throwing set like >>931780 to have something to do when the boredom sets in. It might also be prudent to check your local laws before carrying them around. On that topic, if you're in the US, and have something you're not supposed to, toss it inside your tent if you see anyone close by; the fourth amendment applies to tents and therefore they're not searchable by law enforcement.
>>
>>931772
i have the buck 119 it fits perfect in my hand perfectly. buck knifes are really high quality i love mine and take them whenever i go out. i have the buck 119 and the buck ranger skinner.

What you want is not a knife at all.
You want a tomahawk.
If sharpened properly a hawk can handle 90% of your cutting needs.
Hawks can cut cordage, process wood and game, gut a fish, carve trap triggers and pound stakes.
Hawks are also excellent throwing weapons.
In a survival situation you can use the head of a hawk with no other tools to carve itself a new handle if the first one breaks, or just pack the head to begin with.
>>
>>932896
You really gonna say you can filet a fish with a tomahawk??
>>
>>932914
No, said I could gut one.
Filleting is part of the 10% of cutting a tomahawk can't do.
To be fair most survival knives won't fillet well either
>>
>>932914
You can, but most Inuits use an ulu, which is essentially an axe blade without a long handle.
>>
>>932922
apart from it's not at all like an axe blade in blade geometry.

It's like a KNIFE with the handle behind the blade rather than below.
>>
>>932926
This, i figure them Inuit tools are for scraping hide/cutting flesh..

American Indians probably used knives along with a tomahawk. Once they had steel of course..

I'd love to see a sunfish or perch filleted with a tomahawk. Probably about the size of a McNugget!
>>
>>932930
I hate all the rhetoric about muh survival.

If you were in a survival situation you wouldn't be concerned about filleting fish, you'd be concerned about catching them, gutting them (Which could be done by hand or with a stone if need be) and cooking them.

Whether tomahawk, axe, hatchet modern survival knife, leukko, or whatever, the important aspect in a survival situation is (1) actually HAVING an appropriate tool and (2) possessing the SKILL to use it.

The majority of armchair commandos would die in the bush regardless of what tools they had

>shit axe
>shit knife
>shit

>Why take two tools when you could take one tool that takes 3 times the effort for every job?!
>>
>>931772

>throwing

Don't bother

If you want a projectile weapon, use a projectile weapon.

As for knife:

Mora Bushcraft will do everything you'll ever need from a knife, at a good price.

The Buck you show is good as a skinning/stabber, but the clip point isn't good for batoning wood for a fire.

They make really good pizza cutters

Yeah maybe after ACTUAL pizza cutters and scissors.

Pic related is a great survival knife. Comes with a ferro rod so you can sharpen the blade AND start fires. No scaled to break if you want to throw it. Paracord if you need to make a spear. It does everything!

This one. Has the wight and a good swing so it will travel far and fast. Double ends mean sure hit. If the target is in body armor and can't penetrate then it won't snap thanks to it's flexibility and it will just bounce back into your hand.

Can anyone recommend a good knife for skinning and field dressing?
>>
>>935312
You realize when doing a proper fillet you are literally just cutting the skin away and leaving the meat mostly attached and not having to deal with a metric fuck ton of bones right ?
>>
>>935719
>>935312
There are people who don't just eat the bones?

Is this a meme? I have always just chewed the bones up.

Sure OP throw it to your hearts content.

Back around '02 I was working at a porn store selling shit under the table for mad cash.

We had one of those on the wall next to the cash register that we wrote "anti theft device" on. It stayed like that for years.

Then we got bought out and the new owner made us take it down...we got robbed 3 days later.
