Hey,
Lost my compass. Can anyone recommend a good one that is aesthetically pleasing but won't make me look like some kind of steampunk cosplayer or something?
Thanks

Thanks for the contribution, lad
Did you consider your old compass aesthetically pleasing? If you did then it'd help to post a pic so we have an idea what you like.

Oh the irony.

Just google military compass and you'll find a it. It's the standard US Military model so there are a lot of different people that make them.

This is the compass you want OP even a jarhead can't fuck it up. No offence to you jarheads.

My company has the same controller, but an S7 gun. Trimble makes some nice stuff.

that's bullshit these hings are about $10
$20 tops.

But it doesn't have a mirror on the top.
>What is the mirror used for?
To show the operator who's lost.
I use this, it's a bit on the pricey side but the extra few bucks definitely shows in quality. The inclinometer is actually quite handy once you know how to use it. It's nicely made out of steel and glass so no plastic trash

How poor fag do you have to be for a $29 compass to be a bit on the pricey side?
>>934211
Yeah but with the transit you can measure and map everything. Also they're like $250 probably cheaper for an off brand.
>>935254
Mirror is for seeing the transit face while sighting shit, or alternately for sighting shit while you can see the transit face, depending how you feel like doing it. Also good for fucking with people by reflecting sunlight at their eyes (or signaling people I guess). And of course checking your sexy self out in the field.
>>935260
>no plastic trash
Plastic is lighter and more impact resistant and durable in the field.
I've used both plastic and metal Bruntons™ for shit loads of field work and find the plastic superior by far.
>>935283
lol

>plastic more impact resistant than metal
Did you?
>>934263
i see your compassfu is weak
>>935260
>compass

>>935553
Plastic absorbs shock better than metal, it's less likely to break, or transfer enough for to break one of the smaller components like a hinge.
Seriously I've been using these fuckers for years. Metal definitely has a nostalgia to it, but the plastic version is superior in actual use.

If you're not calling in artillery strikes or mapping unknown territory, wtf do you need this for? Get a baseplate compass like a sane man.
