Looking for stories, advice, and of course, gear.
Specifically, I'm looking to camp in the Yucatan Peninsula and Central America over the next couple of months.
Therefore, in no particular order:
>tents
>sleeping gear (cot/hammock)
>footwear
>advice on insects and poisonous snakes
& anything else that's useful.
Thanks, anons.

Fucking Hawaiians. I hope Dog the Bounty Hunter arrests them all.
Don't go to Hawaii OP.

What did you ruck?
i wouldn't recommend it, the humidity, mosquitoes, insects, poisonous animals and rainfall make the experience extremely unpleasant
that's the amazonian jungle though, not sure about central america

I've been camping in Central America (Costa Rica and Panama) using a tent. Each time was during 'winter' or early spring but I never had problems with insects. I did see some dangerous animals like a coral snake and crocodiles but was never in danger. There are huge centipedes and tarantulas but they wont bother you. Just bring normal camping gear being mindful of altitude (I did Cerro Chirripo in CR @ 12533 ft) and season as there is a rainy season.
