Are you asking for /out/ themed books, or good books to read in the solitude of the woods?
Walden by Henry David Thoreau

The Bell Curve by Charles A. Murray and Richard Herrnstein

That's one of my favorite books. The second one was kind of meh but still an alright read. I wouldn't read while out though, lest you want to be on the lookout for skunks or wolves trying to steal your jerky.

i don't know what i'm gonna want to read so i bring my full library. an ebook reader is good for a month at least, you can load it with survival scripts and books animal and plant lexicons homesteading and whatever books on the side of thousands of books for entertainment.
tldr: just bring everything and see what you fancy.
Earth abides. It's post apoc(pandemic kilos off people) but also deals with the practicality of surviving in /out/ situations. There's 3 distinct timelines. A few weeks before/2 years after the pandemic. 10 years after the pandemic, and then 50+(when the protagonist is geriatric) years after the pandemic, and the new civilisation is built up.(and explains how it's not anywhere near ideal because of strife presented between those last 2 time frames)
It's my favorite book, and I really recommend ppl here give it a try. Atleast listen to the first time frame on an audio book, since that's literally putting next to no effort into it.

I wish they would make a new movie about this book
I know it sounds cliche but I read the entire LOTR series backpacking New Zealand and it was fucking wonderful. I'm sure it would work anywhere. But to be honest just staring at the fire is how i spend most of my nights camping

Sound like The Stand by Stephen King. Excelent read by the way.
Pic related. Pretty interesting. Tells the story of a couple who shipwrecked while sailing across the Pacific, and survived 2 months on the open ocean in an raft designed for coastal use.
