Were/are you a Boy Scout/Varsity Scout?

I'm an Eagle Scout.
I started Tiger Scouts when I was 5 and spent all 13 years in Scouts.
>>
>>922501
Same. Cheers brother.

what the fuck is a varsity scout?

I got life scout, but then I decided I liked banging grils so I dropped out.

Eagle Scout here.

There were parts that were great. Made friends with some trill niggas. Got to do some cool camping stuff, did Sea Base and Canoe Base.

But the adults in my troop were pretty faggy, micromanaging a lot of the time. That wasn't fun.

Mixed feelings I guess
>>
I'm an Eagle Scout. I was also a tiger so I did scouts for a long time. I don't regret it one bit even though sometimes it's retarded. I got to camp over 100+ days, I met some lifelong friends, have some good stories, and I love being able to say I'm an Eagle Scout. When you look back on it you really just remember the good parts and not the shitty parts
>>
Scout from the netherlands hete
>>
>>922751
Same.

Water of land?
>>
>>922758
Land of course
>>
>>922500
I tried to be a boycott like 3 times. The troop in my area was shit though, and the last time it was filled with faggots and degenerates (shocking, I know).

>>
Anybody do Northern Tier? Shit was so cash.
>>
>>922758
>>922760
>>922763
Wait Netherlish scouts specialise in water or land? Like a Navy/Army sorta vibe? Please explain this to me I find it fascinating.
>>
>>922500

Nope. Wasted my teen years playing yugioh like a dumbass.
>>
>>922788
The land scouts learn how to find your way and how to find food (how to survive basicly) and the water scouts learn how to drive a boat (not realy scouts)
>>
>>922501

Tiger > Eagle here. Fair travels in 2017, sc/out/s.
>>
>>922500

Proud Eagle Scout here, took me nine and a half years of hard work to earn it, those were the best years of my life and I'm proud I saw it through.
>>
I was in the cub scouts for 5 years and never did one thing outdoors, nor did i learn anything useful. My scoutmasters were faggot numales. They deserve to be gassed, along with my parents, who didn't switch me into a troup that actually did things other than sell fucking popcorn.
>>
>>922797
water scouts sounds a lot more fun and less faggy †bh
>>
>>922918
No al they do is cleaning boats. Only in the summer they sail
>>
>>922948
First, we don't "drive" boats, we sail. Second, we don't just clean them (we do that regularly all year round), we have to maintain them. Honestly, it kind of builts character.
>>
>>922993

Didn't know being a passive aggressive bitch is having 'character'
>>
>>923000
First, nice trips.
Second, excuse me, didn't meant to get across that way. As for character: We teach kids from a young age to take good care for their shit: we leave the maintenance up to them, while us scout leaders keep a watchful eye.
>>
>>922906
This was essentially my experience with scouting as well. Our leadership was about 40% numales and 60% women and we went camping once in the 5 years I was involved.
>>
Was a Cub Scout, Webelow, and Scout in the US. We lived in a pretty cold, flat part of the US so we did a lot of five mile, out and back hikes in the snow. Did one they called a "five miler" that had to be ten, easy- it took hours and hours to walk it- about half of it just on prairie, dead reckoning over a couple of low hills to get to the highway, then follow the highway.
>>
>>922993
Do you sail motor boats?
>>
>>923325
No, sailing boats. In the case of our troup we can put an outboard engine on our boats. But some troups have actual tugboats or even seaworthy old army ships.
>>
>>922500
Eagle Scout, Greater Alabama Council. Also Coosa Lodge, Order of the Arrow and all that jazz. I miss the hell out of it.
>>
>>922500
Tiger to Webelos.
I quit because it started conflicting with Football and baseball. I didnt care at the time but wish I had made Eagle. It worked out for the best as I got a full ride to a NCAA d2 school because of football. My boy is a Tiger scout right now. Doubt he will stick with it because he loves soccer and basketball.
>>
>>922511
>what the fuck is a varsity scout?
I used to work at a scout camp and we had a few groups of them. Even the varisty scouts I've met were never really clear on what it was supposed to be. From what I saw it seemed to just be venturing but with no grilz allowed. The only ones I ever met were part of Mormon groups with the sort of leaders who refused to acknowledge or listen to female staff members except to stare at their asses and make inappropriate comments.

i was boyscout in germany
age 10 to 14 VCP

what we made:
meeting every wednesday in the townhall
doing dump games like

schenkelklopfen (Limb hitting)
>chair chicle one kid in the midle
>midle kid has a newspaper roll
>inner kid tries to hit the siting kids with the roll
>if your about to get hit you say a name
>the midle one needs to hit the called name
clearly that it ended everytime in tears because only the name of the same kid was said and the midle guy hit with all strenght he had

nun in the monastery
>9 kids siting inside
>10 outside of the room
>the 9 inside select a name from outside one outside was the noun
>1 from outside goes in and sits on the lap of a person of choice
>if the person had selected him before she hugs him
>if not she tweaked him in the ass (with full force)
>if the last person no one selected (the bullied kid) came in everyone tweaked him and loughtet at him for beeing the nun in the monastery

we had more games like this. the whole meetings were just bulling 101

and the group leader had literaly no cance to calm us down.
basicly the group leaders feared going out with us,because of our behaviour but that lead to siting inside and doing stupid games . and that stupid games lead to bulling and fighting.

if we were outside 3 times a year the bulied kit was thrown at with red berries or the berries/gras were forced in his mouth
luckily wasnt bullied but i still had some fights in this time basicaly when the bullied kid was missing that day everyone fighted each other
>>
>>923478
Are you sure you weren't in Hitlerjugend?
>>
>>922500
I got kicked out of cub scouts for threatening to cut off a long-time bully's head with my hatchet after he took my log
>he laughed at me until I came back with the hatchet
bonus round:
>the den mother was the mother of the other bully
needless to say I don't care for boy scouts
>>
>>922500
Eagle Scout, Northern New Jersey Council. I miss it like hell. Want to get back into it as a leader, but I need to get my shit together since I'm fresh out of college with a new job.

Aside from that most troops were jelly of us because we went to Campmor on a regular basis and all our gear was cutting edge fresh.
>>
>>922500
I was in the elementary school Cub Scout groups with all of the blue and gold. My father managed a regional park in rural New York and I was super enthusiastic about band saws / drill presses, hunting bows and basic electronics. (Un)forunately my parents began to suspect Scouting was a bit of scam when [[[the Mormons make]]] you buy all of the uniforms, patches and books again for multiple levels of trivial age-based achievements.

I'm applying to work as a ranger at Philmont over the summer, an American Scout ranch, has anyone else worked there?

Philmont is a bitch to get in though. You reserve 2-3 YEARS in advance IF you can get the spot.
>>
>>922501
Same. Also SPL and OA
>>
>>927632

I'm >>922535

>No Philmont

Meh, I live in the Texas panhandle and have spent plenty of time in the New Mexico mountains.

I liked Sea Base a lot because I just hung out and fished with my nigs on a boat with a really cool captain.

Northern Tier was ok, but my group's guide there was this butch girl who was pedal to the metal the whole fucking time, and we just wanted to take it more slowly.
>>
>>922775
Hell yeah dude. Did it with the OA. It was epic
>>
>>922500
Eagle scout here too. My troop put out more eagles in the last year than the other 4 troops in the region combined. All my homies moved off to differnet colleges. the 7 people i was in tiger with i got eagle with. good times feels good man
>>
>>929903
92 same with my 6 buddies. feels good man
>>
>>922501
same
>>
I was a cub scout, but I quit not too long after becoming a boy scout

I moved towns just before the transition age. went from a tiny town with one troop to a less tiny town with 2-3 troops. I assume it's because of where we lived in town, but I got put in the troop that had literally no other guys my age in it while all my friends were in the other troop. I got to sit in a room by myself with a leader basically taking a history class which isn't the most enjoyable thing to an 11 year old, even one who enjoyed history.

promptly quit. it's a real shame. I would have liked to continue being a scout, but that really fucked it for me

>>922906
same. we had one overnight camping thing, and I didn't participate for some reason. only things I remember doing were the pinewood derby and whittling soap
>>
>>922500
Eagle Scout, Venture Silver. Staffing Philmont this summer.
>>
>>922500
My mom decided that since my dad wasn't a major influence on my life, that I needed to join the cubscouts so that there would be a positive male role model in my life. Almost immediately after I joined, the Den Leader quit and my mom ended up replacing him. The first three years of cubscouts were nothing but doing crafts and learning general tool safety. Eventually, I moved up to the boyscouts, my mom passed the baton along to a dad of one of the younger boys and I started learning real survival skills. And I'd bet just about anything that I'm the only person on this forum that can hunt, clean, cook and eat a rabbit and then knit a hat out of fur.
>>
374 Tiger to Eagle.
>>
>>934569
Your mom is a whore and you are a faggot like all kids raised by a single mom
>>
>>934660
While you obvious had a healthy and happy childhood... I'm guessing that your aggression towards other people stems from a history of "bad touch"?
>>
I stopped after making first class
My troop was great but all the other troops were polluted by fat fucks who couldn't stand for an hour without beer and TV
They just push these kids through the ranks and we end up with 13 year old eagles with 2 camping trips under their belts
Although that might just be northern NJ
>>
>>934981
the same thing happened to me, except I'm in Los Angeles district
>>
>>935121
or... was at least
>>
Royal ranger mofos

Started scouts as a bear in Germany(military family) then moved up to boy scouts. Our sm was a badass army colonel and we did so much shit. Went to Kandersteg twice, attended intercamp 3 times, did a memorial service for a ww1 cemetery in meuse argonne region and blair atholl jamborette in scotland. Shit was cash in scotland, probably the best scouting experience.
