There's needs to be a video like this, but using a bucket instead of a shovel. You can do a lot of things with a bucket. Imagine is 200 years of military technology and innovation went into designing a bucket instead of a shovel.
>>
I too am not a chinko conscript slave and also it's a shit
>>
So how is the construction quality in these, shit i guess?

Mine from a "dollar" type store is far cjeaper, with fiberglass shaft is lighter and stronger and D handle is comfy.

Yes, not just inna trunk, me use it.

OWNED

brought it out the other day, used it to dig a firepit and chop a medium branch, the buckle failed

rip
>>
>>921533
I'm guessing steel, as the date is stamped 1985. I didn't know they made them out of titanium, but I highly recommend it

Friend, the fir tree stamped ones are late Soviet crap.

Acquire an older model, those are tough as hell.

t. someone who does soldiering with one.

Objectively better than any other shovel like tool.

This shit saved my back many times. remarkably easy to dig with, regardless of ground type, and portable.

Not bad. Twice as heavy as a Russian entrenching tool, though, and worse at chopping.

Same blade area, so same digging speed.

Swedish shovel is at least better at digging than the Russian, if shitter at chopping.
>>
>>921758
Use the bright orange plastic spade they have at every outdoor store or just any piece of wood lying around.

not sure what shovel your refering to but first pic on google for " russian entrenching tool" is this, and as you may note, it is NOT a tri-fold design, the tri-fold design is the key to the points of supperiority i am personally trying to hioghlight

I've got both a tri-fold, a Soviet, and have used a swede (pic related).

The Swede and the tri-fold NATO are both heavy due to metal handle (duh). They are also both prone to jamming of the mechanism due to sand getting in.

The swede has a considerably larger blade, and is thus good for digging, but the blade is at an angle, and thus you cannot straight put force into it for chopping.

The Soviet is light and versatile. Sure, the handle is long-ish, but it doesn't exceed the length or width of a pack - and thus no problem.

The NATO tri-fold packs compact, but that's about it. The triangular handle also hinders chopping.

I carry a Soviet and keep a tri-fold in the car.

>kek, its a shovel m8
What are roots.
>>
>>923521
>>923523
90 degree that shit, and enjoy painless digging
>>
>>923580
not sure what kind of roots you got around your parts m8, but i mostly deal with pine roots in my area and the "root saw" toothy bit of the blad ussually takes care of that, chopping roots wouldnt work too well in my parts due to soft soil.

the ability to use the trifold shovel as anything from a pick to a chair it what i enjoy, the pointed triangle shape tip is great for digging in both used as a shovel or a pick/hoe or, because of the straigh handle and the folded back edge as a spade.

i like my entrenching tool, you like your entrenching tool, we both like entrenching tools,

what sheath or pouch options or whatever does the ones come with? mines got a malleable plastic rubberized cover with alice clips which are pretty good but the weight of the case it self is .. eh .. could be better
>>
>>923521
god damn it, I can't afford a shovel right now
>>
Because US Milsurp ones are far superior

the old german shovel is far beter than the new 3 fold nato
>>
>>920949
What the hell? That's a track shovel for an excavator.
>>
>>922463

Old ones are awesome but getting harder to find in the USA. Cold steel makes a copy with a hickory handle (varnished... yuck) but a good steel and slightly thicker than the red army shovel of ww2. Gets good reviews even by people who hate Cold Steel.

Nonfolding is better IMO because it's lighter and fewer points of failure. Even good folders always jam up and get grit in the works for me. The folders seem to take up a lot of room in my pack or my trunk, too.

>>920898
Because I have a Cold Steel?

because OP, if i wanted a bottle opener, id get a bottle opener. The wire cutter part was kinda cool, but how often am i gonna need a wire cutter and a shovel at the same time, without thinking "man, i should bring a wire cutter with me"?

Besides, ive had PLENTY of experience with folding shovels, and 9 times out of 10, that folding mechanism is gonna fuck out on you

Is it Compact? Yes, but every cheap one of this design weights almost twice the amount of pic and has a locking mechanism that WILL fail. Personally id go for weight/reliability over compactness every day.

>>925082
Best choice and you can get 3 of those for the price of single folding one.
