I personally do it so I can learn to stop worrying, overthinking, and over analyzing. It has also helped in reducing anxiety. It also helps make outdoor activities more enjoyable for me.

I mean it's boring af at first but when you get into it it's like a long warm bath for your mind

it's easy af, too! just sit with your back straight (on a chair is just fine, or on the floor or whatever) hold your hands together, lock your eyes on a point on the floor in front of you and then focus on your breathing

I like to imagine breathing in blue fresh stuff and breathing out red garbage stuff

Works pretty well for me and there's science to back it up. All the "spiritual" garbage is bullshit but the anxiety/stress reduction is real.

This is just my personal experience but I've had generalized anxiety disorder and depression for 6 years. Started meditating a year ago and my depression is gone. Anxiety is not nearly as bad as it was before. I feel like if I meditated more often it could be gone as well.
