Not sure if this is the right place to post, so apologies in advance, I'm new to /out/.
So I currently am in a really ideal situation where I am able to pursue whatever I so choose unhindered.
I live on about 13 acres of land, have enough money saved up that I can live comfortably for the rest of my life, and my schedule is totally open each and every day since I left my career 2 years ago.
I've always wanted to have an off grid community, and while that is the end goal I at the very least want to learn about Viking architecture but so far it has been difficult to find people/places that offer such studies.
Does anyone know where I can go to learn and become skilled in constructing such buildings?
If not is anyone here proficient enough to answer some building questions? That way at the very least I don't have my roof cave in on me in my sleep etc.
Just to clarify I've been in the carpentry/plumbing/electric and general construction all my life just through family business so I'm not starting out too fresh but not sure if I should reach out to them or look for specialty craftsmen.

My dad went to log building school at some other school in northern Minnesota, but I forgot the name

Looks decent from their website, they really like their boats. Didn't see much on housing construction.
Seems legit though, unfortunately all full at the moment but will look more into it.

Honestly, if you have all the time /money you could do some research and find out where in Northern Europe you can see genuine historical structures and take a vacation. That's what I would do!

That's definitely been on my radar but if there was ample information on the topic I would learn that way and work my way from there.
There are a few I've been looking into in case I can't get the information I'm looking for online so we shall see.

Yes, it's a great place to learn such things. They don't always advertise the best on the site so give them a call. Even if you don't want to leap into a class right now, they'll tell you exactly when there will be one in the future and while you're here, I guarantee they'll have more than a few great men and women there that will help you.
I've been cutting timber with one of the last legit horse loggers and one of the many timber framing experts up here for a while now.
This is the place to learn it.

That is so awesome, sounds like a nice life. I used to live on the iron range. I miss northern Minnesota so much, I'm looking to move back next year.
