So, my camper-shack project has progressed enough bring me to the point where I want to figure out an on-site septic dump solution.

Currently, the property has a septic tank system installed, but there isn't a 'sewer clean out' anywhere. Yes, I know where the line is from the trailer home (that will possibly soon be gone, or possibly not, so we're assuming it's staying for now.), and there just ISN'T a sewer clean out port like there should be. I'll blame the redneck installers who originally set this up.

So, my question, how difficult is it to 'tap into' a pipe like that? Do I have to cut the whole pipe and then add a 'T' section? Or can I use some sort of 'saddle' thing that just clamps on there and 'taps' into the pipe? Again, no experience with this sort of stuff.

The other option, is that it would be probably possible to pop the 'man hole' cover off the septic tank itself, and drop a dump line in there. Anyone done this? I could make an 'in-use-cover' thing for the manhole part of it, with it's own 'baffle' tube that would drop down below the water line, to discourage waste from floating along the top of the water and out into the drain field without settling.

Any input is helpful. I'd like to avoid towing this thing to a dump site (absolute closest seems like it's about 40 miles away) every few weeks.

Pic sorta related. We wanna be a little bit more... careful about it. (Also, we can't actually get the thing that close to the manhole cover. in our case. There are trees and things in the way.)

Are there any storm drains nearby?

What about a river? That's what the rest of /out/ as well as Dave Matthews Band would do.

There are no storm drains, though I'm not sure that'd be a good idea anyways.

There IS supposedly an abandoned city-septic-system that was used back in like, the 80's when the old barn on the property was a poolhouse for some rich-ass people who used to live in the subdivision that used to occupy this area.
Considering heavily about seeing if I can still get stuff to drain down there. If I can... >.> I'm not that concerned about where it goes after that. :D

You can't just pop the cap.
For a few reasons.
Code is actually a separate chamber for inlet with a filter between main tank for most states.
And there's no way to properly seal a hose in the lid, its it like a pickle jar- you'll be smelling shit forever. The tank is buried for a reason.
Just dig up the pipe and cut in- I'm not familiar with any saddles but I wouldn't doubt they exist.

Look up code for run/drop.
Too much of an angle and water outruns paper/poop and it will clog.
Too shallow of an angle and it won't flow away and clog again.

Sounds like I'm going to have to splice into the pipe, I guess. Was really hoping to avoid that.

Eh, if I actually didn't care about it, I'd have dumped the thing into the ditch in the woods a while back. It's far enough that I wouldn't see or smell it, and it washes down to the little lake or whatever that the richer white people down the hill have in back of their houses. XD

Sadly, the old city sewer isn't a viable option because those things go to shit pretty quick without maintenance... and I'm sure 20 years or so is plenty for it to eventually just back up and be gross real quick.
I do really wonder where it GOES though. Like, that's a lot of pipe still underground... a lot of BIG pipes...

Anyways, not the point. I guess I'll have to figure out how to splice into the septic system... this might involve a plumber for at least part of it. Either way, it's a good 50 feet in a straight line (though the septic system is downhill from where the camper is) to where I need the 'dump port' to be. Is that gonna be a problem?

Oh god I remember that scene... it's why I haven't dumped any of the various campers I've dealt with into storm drains or such. Because I didn't want to be that guy.
