Why even wear camo when youre wearing a big fuck off orange vest?
>>
camo's for LARPers and manchildren, blaze orange is for adults with a job to do.
>>
Why wear very green woodland camo in an all white snow environment?
>>
>>897846
So you don't get shot, deer see bright orange as brown or something other dull color.
>>
>>897846
>not using bright orange colour camo
anon...
>>
>>897846
because
>it doesn't matter what you wear under an orange west, so why not have camo clothes
>you don't wear the orange vest at all times, so it makes sense to have hunting clothes that can camoflage you if you take the vest off (specially duck hunting requires good camo)
>those hunting clothes can be used for other outdoors activities as well, some people just like to blend in
>others just like those aesthetics
>>
Literally never understood the point of camo. I've been hunting for over 10 years and all I ever wear is some insulated winter clothes if it's that cold but usually some blue jeans and my Carhartt jacket.
>>
>>897846
Because the animals see it as a gray.

>>897876
This guy gets it.
>>
>>897846
Two reasons -
>don't get shot by other idiot hunters that started drinking Busch lite at 6:00am
>deer can't see orange, red, or yellow
>>
>>897846
I've never understood the point of camo at all. I still have my uniform from when I was a conscript but when I go hiking I make sure all my clothes and gear are very brightly coloured. If I get lost, which has yet to happen, I want to be easily found. The neon blue backpack and glow in the dark orange tent definitely stick out.

As for hunting, the stupid critters around here are terrible at spotting humans. As long as you keep your head down and don't make too much noise, you could be wearing a hazard warning light and still not be seen by them.
>>
Alright. Instances where good camo is needed in hunting.
>bow hunting of any type
>dove hunting
>duck/goose hunting
>pig hunting
>turkey hunting
Need I continue?
You need to be well hidden from anything with good eyesight. Deer can't see the blaze orange but other hunters can so you don't get your fucking head blown off.

Never in my life I've seen a hunter here in Europe wear camo, but 90% owns atleast one piece of gear made by either Fjällräven or Härkila.

I've been duck hunting for 3 years and never worn anything other than some brown jackets and tan or blue denim jeans. You don't have to go full Duck Dynasty autismo to shoot some ducks. And people here in Texas literally pay to hang out of loud as fuck helicopters 20 feet above ground shooting at boars.
>>
Maybe needed wasn't the correct word. But if I was ground hunting I would rather not risk getting charged by a boar.
>>
>>897878
>deer can't see orange, red, or yellow
Mhmmm.... Good try bucko.
>>
>>897894

Deer are red-green colorblind. A blaze vest would look neutral gray to them.
>>
>>897900
Besides my awesome pun that clearly went over your head.

Even solid grey can stick out enough to do some spooking. Kinda like hunting for hijabs 1 mile out with 30mm auto cannons on FLIR you don't look for heads. Just moving clothing...
>>
>>897846
Very seldom can you find hunting orientated outerwear in non-camo.
>>
>>897901
Not sure I see the pun...

What about this?

In theory, the orange should make you visible enough to other hunters while still keep you hidden from game.

There's a reason red plaid flannels were the standard hunting attire for a long time. The pattern helps break up your silhouette to prey species, most of which perceive shape better than color, bit the red helps you stand out to predator species, which typically perceive color better than shape, as a "not prey" entity.

And it looks classy af in town later.
>>
>>897846
Cammo is for duck hunting, orange is for deer
At least that's the rules in Ontario
>>
>>897876
Same. I just put on the cheapest rags I can find. I can see doing equipment porn for long trekking that lasts days, but hunting..... Meh.
>>
>>897878
>this is literally what you look like in an orange jumpsuit and oakleys to a deer.
>>
>>897846
Because not all seasons require you to wear camo and it's cheaper to buy a nice set of camo for all of your hunting and just wear a vest (also most animals see in grayscale, so orange becomes gray) when you have to instead of spending twice as much money on outdoor clothing.

It's also traditional in the states and for some hunts (especially birds, and even more especially turkeys) it's an absolute necessity if you're not hunting from a blind.

Sky Blue is better, oranges occur naturally in the bush during twilight and dawn hours.

Deer have shit vision and near colorblindness. At range, here is how they see the blaze orange.

Breaks up your outline, city friend.
>>
>>898025
A minimum of 400 square inches of orange is required in my state.
>>
>>897852
So why not just wear all orange and orange vest + regular clothes
>>
>>899128
you could do exactly this. durr are dichromats with green/red colorblindness so what happens is green, red, orange, and yellow all looks similar or identical to a deer. you can literally wear anything that isn't near the blue/ciolet side of the color spectrum and you'll blend into your surroundings.

that said, it is also true that the pattern and contrast of camouflage (as opposed to color alone) breaks up your outline and makes you look less conspicuous. but it's still debated how acute durr actually are to shapes and contrast. they're dumber than horsedicks and don't seem to see fucking shit unless it's doing jumping jacks.

>>
>>899190

Yeah thats the point... you will never shoot into the sky while hunting so it is designed to lapse your brain back into gear if you get buck fever and get the impulse to shoot at movement.
>>
>>899191
I shoot into the sky while hunting all the time.

>>
>>898854
Blue also "occurs naturally" if you're standing next to a lake or something and when the snow comes it's even worse.
Orange works really well, I've spotted hunting buddies from far, far away when they use it.
>>
>>899121
Well let's just stipulate that some hunters wear 400 sq inches better than others...
>>
>>897846
>wearing orange
>being a public land cuckold
I don't wear orange cause nobodies going to fucking shoot me on my own land cause nobody's here
>>
>ITT non-color blind people bitch and moan about something that doesn't affect their lives.

Deer may not recognize certain colors, but that doesn't mean hue and contrast don't play a big part in their ability to recognize threats. A solid hue looks more unnatural and stands out compared to the broken and foliage-patterned hue of camo, allowing for a higher success rate that you're not detected.

This thread is a product of people with shit rational.
>>
I wear camouflage rubbers so nobody sees me cumming.
