I have a medium sized lab that I need a coat for, for when we go for long day/evening/early morning hikes in the freezing cold. Essentially overnight camping as well.
Any suggestions on brands?

Wind breaker might be more important.
Child size sweatshirt that also ties at the waist. Shop for your dog at the salvation army.

This. I found a kid's soft shell jacket and cut the sleeves down. Cut out the zippers, and sew in three velcro tabs. I like soft shell because it'll keep the dog warm even if they decide to go swimming w/e.
Get him some Filson clothes.
Make sure its made out of Filson wool.
Remember: Cotton can lead to your eventual demise.

I'd suggest a leash

>I have a medium sized lab that I need a coat for,
No, you really don't NEED a coat for your dog. All kinds of labs are used a retrievers for duck hunters and jump in and out of freezing cold water all day. Keep your pupper in your tent and he'll be just find. Dogs have higher core temperatures, fur coats that keep water away from their skin and insulate them.
A simple rain jacket for the dog would probably be plenty effective when it's snowing/sleeting/etc.

We're gonna be in anywhere from 10 to -10 degree temps. Are you sure?

>Cold weather coat for canines?
Most of them come with one.

i would not risk it
it might not freeze without a dogcoat but it wont be pleasant either
labs seem to have a dense but very short overcoat
do they have fur on the belly?
these barbour ones seem to be kind of pointless without covering the belly
You will have to be vigilint that your dog doesnt overheat in these. Depending on how cold it gets and the breed of your dog a layered system might be the way to go.

I would say a more important thing would be little doggie boots for your doggo so his paws don't freeze stepping in the snow

your dog is a bitch then and should be put down

we have a hunters heat pad for our dogs in the duck blind so that they can warm up. otherwise ive found that they get tired faster because their bodies spend a lot of energy trying to warm back up.

depends on the dog really. My short haired pit is almost nude. His vet said that he radiates heat mroeore than a human because dogs have thinner skin (evolutionarily, they had fur to protect them, no need) so he would be cold more often.
It turned him into a kinda annoying creature to be honest. he's cool otherwise, but he will cry if he doesn't have a sweatshirt on or can be under the blankets with us. We're mid atlantic so its not like shit's crazy cold here or anything.
