I really hope you guys can help me out here.
>live in Vancouver,BC
>want to go to Garibaldi Lake with friends
>all amateurs who hike in the summer
So it's already to rain hard af here, so undoubtedly there's going to be snow. Is there any tips you guys can give, either those who have been there before, or have hiked in semi-alpine areas in this time of year? We don't want to die.

Rain is going to be your biggest difficulty.

Staying warm in dry weather isn't too hard - just pack some insulation and you're good. I have hiked/camped in -25C without real difficulty. The hardest thing sub-zero is keeping water available (melting snow/ice), and it's pretty hard to start fires with wood/tinder in those temps so having gas helps.

If it is wet wet AND cold, then you're going to have the problem that wet makes you colder, and nothing that gets wet will ever dry. Basically, expect to have enough spare clothes to keep replacing them as they get wet. If you are out for 5 days, you probably want at least 5 pairs of socks, etc. If you really trust your jacket / pants, carry fewer shirts.

Always keep a completely seperate set of clothes dry for sleeping in - you need much more warmth when sleeping than when up and active and even something that is half-wet will be much colder.

hiked it recently. not bad make sure you have a good insulation layer and your set. especially if you heat a water bottle up and toss it in the bag with ya. if you have xcountry skis you can cut off a lot of slogging through wet slurpee snow for almost 14 k going up to tusk or panarama. if yur just around the lake just stay dry and if its pouring its sometimes good to split a 3-4 man tent load amongst you and huddle for warmth. tiny fold up umbrellas and/or a single use (the trip counts as one) Poncho are super useful for keeping you/gear/friends gear dry
