Glucosamine/chondroitin for joint health. Every morning, one cup warm water plus juice of one lemon plus one teaspoon Himalayan salt, mix together and drink --this helps with inflammation.

Hope that helps, sorry I can't answer your question properly.
>>
>>887294
when i was in the army reserve, we were told never to train with more than 20% of your body weight. despite the fact that as soon as we went out field we packed 30KG+ in our packs, plus ~7kg webbing and a weapon.

But it certainly is about how you protect yourself, its the steep declines with a heavy pack that are going to tear up your knees, punch up hills but zigzag down if practical.

The unfortunate truth is though that we were never meant to be pack mules and rucking heavy shit aint good for ya.

Do your training though with that 20% number and on the rare occasion you have to carry more at least your joints will be more prepared.

>Disclaimer: This is all broscience

>>
>>887312

I'm not sure about the total bodyweight % rule. For instance; I was 186lbs, I'm losing weight down to 165lbs, but that loss is not muscle but fat. I should be able to carry more in pack, not less.

It should be a % of your muscle weight rule tbqhwym8.

On a side, and general, note - I understand ultralight desires, but god damn you are a bunch of boring bastards. Fucking Americans who think going for a walk is complete activity.

My pack is 40lbs loaded for winter, 50lbs including food and water, because I want to have fun when I'm out. Not just walk, sleep, repeat.

The camera gear is fairly heavy, just about 2 lbs. To be honest, i suggest a high end compact camera for hiking.

I bring my DSLR since i own it anyways, can be at the ready in standby mode for days, focuses well dim light, and is weather sealed.
>>
>>887946
Mirrorless user here.

Switched from Nikon dslr to fuji system. Honestly tiring lugging around a 2kg camera plus gear.

I use a set of primes and pick and choose as necessary. 12/23/56mm, the 12 is godly for starscapes.

Lighter camera means lighter tripod too.

Base weight is about 10kg plus 2kg of camera gear.

from their website

"Technically classified as ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), Dyneema® fibers are a lightweight high-strength oriented-strand gel spun through a spinneret. Considered the strongest fibers in the world, these extremely burly, low-density fibers are up to 15 times stronger than high-quality steel on a weight for weight basis, yet still float on water. They are also extremely durable and resistant to moisture, UV light and chemicals. Often used in the rope industry, among others, due to the ability to produce stronger and lighter ropes, Dyneema® fibers are also used by the military and law enforcement (personal and vehicle armor), the maritime industry (mooring ropes), and commercial fishing (ropes and nets)."

But if you are doing some real /out/ type shit, you may want to bring along a larger fixed blade or folder.

Food & booze have nothing to do with a light baseweight.

Cigars are a small and light luxury item, they're perfect for ultralight hiking.

Down quilts are light, warm and the comfiest things you can possibly sleep in /out/doors. Only downside is that they're pricy.

You can easily find an UL mattres and a pillow. Thermarest Neoair Xlite + Exped Air Pillow UL.

Stop clinging to 'muh old ways' and get with the time gramps.

It doesn't look that difficult. It would be easier if they were full tang and you could just make the scales and bolt them on. But with this, I would probably take two pieces of wood and use a router or just carefully carve the groove for the tang in the two pieces of wood, drill a couple small holes in the tang and handle parts for rivets or whatever hardware you use, then shape the handles and finish them, and bolt them all back together.

Maybe you could also just take one piece of wood and drill out the middle for the tang and epoxy the fuck out of it before you press it in.

I have no clue what I'm talking about.

Oh, and the stacked leather handled are dope too. Google those.

I have a golite bag that uses dyneema ripstop, it's about 8 years old and still going strong. I use it every season, and I'm not babying it - wild camping with 10-16kg loads.

I also use dyneema cordage for my whoopie slings, adjustable ridgeline on the hammock, and tie outs. It doesn't take a knot for shit so I use traditional cord for my tarp ridgeline but when I switched out from memecord (paracord) the reduction in bulk (more than weight) was very noticeable.

they're cut for the tang already so anon is gonna have to use an epoxy if his rat tail tang tapers like the image. It's also going to be a good idea to clamp it as he progresses.

You can literally go google for lightweight/UL forums and find UL 4th season kits..

Except it's retarded, you just add a higher R value pad and wear a puffy and some pants inside your 20 degree quilt. Wow so hard, there totally aren't numerous forums with UL backpackers sharing trip/pics of winter camping.

And at f4 or above, it's just as sharp as any other 50 in the canon lineup, while being the lightest. Got to choose the right tool for the job, not just the most expensive.

Some bum got murdered not far from here one time. got my ceramic knife for safety. 3 oz brah. hike some tourist trail for a mile, take some pictures standing on a log then fuck off outta the woods back down to the beach and buy a hotdog at the stand. No shit, you clearly don't understand the terms used
>inb4 hurr snow cave
Alright, so proper UL means not relying on items where technique can work, skill doesn't weighs on your back

HAHAHAH
Another first page Google http://woodtrekker.blogspot.com/2014/04/low-cost-ultralight-winter-backpacking.html
And his big 3 aren't even that light

Holy shit I am laughing at you faggots so hard right now, go rely on your pop-up tents and 8lb backpacks while hiking 6miles a day.

I don't even understand how you can try to argue that hauling MORE luxury items out into the woods is manlier or something. I'm assuming you came here with prissy expectations and unloaded your own misconceptions. Go read a book and go outside instead of finding extra gizmos for your not-quite-full pocket

And another, although the web design is trash, also on my first page of results

http://hikinghq.net/winter-ultra-light.html

Total minus food and water : 10.05lb

Thanks for giving me reason to look at some of these setups, maybe you won't be too rustled and can see some improvements for yourself.

>Tensile strength is everything
Considering cuben fiber isn't 100% dyneema, but two plastic sheets laminating a dyneema sqaure grid, you are falling for advertising gimmicks.

>Yeah you were the one complaining about money, 280 bucks for an MLD Cuben bag won't break my bank.

Nope.
Are all ultralight fags schizo like you?

>Where will you move the goalpost to next I wonder?
Nowhere.

The cuben fiber used in mld packs is laminated with a layer of 150d polyester on either side, it's basically indestructible.
>>
>>890848
Not to mention the cuben used in tarps is literally 1/10th the thickness of pack weight cuben.
>>
>>887945
I promise you will die with that pack before 9 months are up. I know what you mean but so do you.

>>890849
Dyneema X =/= Cuben fiber.
Nice try though.

Remember what I said on this taiwanese metal working forum, when a protruding branch punctures your bag.
>>
>>890856
Hmg, the maker of the pack uses:
Woven/Non Woven 150D Cuben Poly Hybrid White (bottom of packs): 5.4 oz/yd2 or 184 g/m2
Woven/Non Woven 150D Cuben Poly Hybrid Black (packs): 5.0 oz/yd2 or 170g/m2
Woven/Non Woven 375D Dyneema Cuben Hybrid (custom packs are all offered in this indestructible material): 5oz/yd2 or 170g/m2
the 1.5 Oz isn't the hybrid fabric either.
Remember when guy on the Sudanese dumpling frying forum proved cuben fiber will last longer than either of our mortal lives?
