what do /out/. ive gone out before but when i did it was in the UP of michigan, and south west Missouri. now im stuck in the middle of a goddamn cornfield with nothing more than over grown drainage ditches and tree lines. its good for hunting coyotes, ducks and geese but i crave hiking for miles mindlessly in a wooded areas. the UP was my favorite and Missouri was nice too.
unfortunatally circumstances have it that ill be stuck in the middle of pic related for a few years (min of 5). and that circle is a solid 50mil radius. i need something to feed the itch, anyone from around here that can give me some advice on where best places to go /out/

Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (near)
Hiawatha national forest (north)
Shawnee national forest (south)
That's all I found. Oh, also Hoosier national forest (southeast).

Kankakee River state park
Midewin (now with more buffalo)
Waterfall Glen forest preserve
Oh fuck yes. This is the thread I've been waiting for. I have heard great things about the Shawnee NF
green river just south of Dixon.
The milky way is great there and there are always dudes with telescopes there. I'll actually be there next weekend.
