Where is the best place in North America to move to to do /out/ stuff such as hoking, kayaking and bushcraft?
Cascadia looks pretty lush but it is so big and covers 2 countries and 9 states so picking one area is hard.
>>
Basically anywhere you can do those hobby tier /out/ activities. If you moved to a real /out/ state and that's all you did, you would be laughed at everywhere you go.
>>
>>885552
That said. Try a liberal state like Washington, Northern California, or Colorado.

I plan on hiking, kayaking, bush craft, raising a few animals, hunting, shooting, a few building projects, fishing and raising kids who can play in the woods. I have a profession that can do at home, what is wrong with finding a great place to do these hobbies?
What is the best state/province for this in the US and Canada?
>>885557
I don't mind liberal areas but Cali is too far, I would never consider living there.
>>
>>885597
Literally anywhere is capable of those things.

Since you want woods, I would say the Appalachian states.
>>
It's far, but I live in Gaspé and there's a fuckton of things to next. Its next to sea, lots of river, hunting is great and le parc de la Gaspésie + Forillon are quite nice. Its bilingual english/french
>>
>>885628
I'm assuming English isn't the best there. Because that post was terrible.

>>

There's no licence required for dispersed camping you retard. And nobody with common sense cuts down saplings, unless they're inexperienced hikers or retarded. What is illegal however, is building your own campsite. You may camp in a dispersed area for up to 16 days. After 16 days, you must move at least 5 road miles for camping in another dispersed area. Campers may not return to the same campsite within the calendar year. It's only annoying when people build their faggot "super shelters" and claim public land like autists. I always knock down shelters that don't show any sign of somebody staying there (no bag or anything left behind). Free firewood too.
>>
>>885685
Fuck Jasper looks lush.
I heard today that Hope in British Columbia is also pretty nice.
>>
>>885853
Tourist infested sadly, with trash everywhere.
>>
>>885836
Sir I understand your postion. But I've actually witnessed molle wearing gerber tomahawk wielding butt plugs go and hack saplings to build a retarded teepee next to a tent. At a very popular car camping area in a national forest. The very kind campground manager dude kindly told them to get rid of it. But this was before I found this board and realized it was a huge problem. So excuse me if I'm harsh but if I see someone doing again I will kindly educate them instead of writing it off as a just one dumb kid...

All these losers talking about gear like women with shoes is beyond me. I dont/can't buy the high priced gear these "bushcrafting" hobbyists do and it is beyond a pet peeve when I realize these are the fuckers probably doing that. Bush craft is cool and useful don't get me wrong. But it completely annihilated my jimmies when what I've seen happen a quarter mile off a major highway at a 16 dollar a night family campsite with a outhouse for every other campsite. It's beyond disgusting. The forest takes decades to replenish the trees these people destroyed for a "hobby"
>>
Alaska for USA, BC or any northern provence for Canadia.
>>
>>885804
LOL well memed
>>
>>885882
Those are just autists being autists, not bushcrafters.
>>
>>885882
Bushcrafting is learning how to survive without modern tools. Building natural shelters, starting fires the old way, etc. It's not building teepees on campsites. What you are describing is a camper/hiker, not a bushcrafter.

Absolutely not. The only good time to go /out/ would be during the really short "winter" we have because mosquitoes make all other times of the year impossible.
>>
I should post some stories of bush crafters creations they've left behind I've found this summer working as a backcountry ranger in a major NP.

We find stick lean-to's all over the place, sometime in the middle of nowhere or in backcountry campsites. Sometimes they're huge, like temp camps or hobo camps. I've found campfires still smoldering in shitty little makeshift fire rings. That and garbage camp furniture they make, to use for a night or two and just leave behind. My least favorite is when someone takes all the branches off a tree to make a sleeping pad. Once found a sapling (really like 15 tall, but a spruce so they take a long time to grow that tall in the sub-alpine) completely stripped of its lower branches, just for a sleeping pad. Just buy one FFS. Sure bushcrafting is allowed in national forests, not national parks, but it still creates resource damage and a huge eyesore.

TL;DR bushcrafting a fucking stupid

Not the same lake but still the same turquoise water. It's caused by rock flour suspended in glacial melt-water and apparently the specific tint of any glacier-fed lake is distinct to it's glacial source.

how the fuck does texas get a 1.5. It has free roaming land pretty much every where.
>>
Texas, Florida, and Virginia for fishing.

Northwest, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and the bible belt for hunting.

You can go be a tree hugger on trails anywhere.

Id say a real /out/ state would be a state with plenty of hunting fishing public forest land (not national/state park cuck land) and conservative gun laws.

Id love to move to Montana and the company I work for has offered relocation there but I would miss saltwater fishing too much. Happy in Virginia. I lived in Texas for awhile and it had some popular fishing and hunting but there was hardly any public forest land. Had to know somebody or pay to hunt which was basically going out in your pajamas on somebody's land to shoot deer feeding on their bait setups around at random spots.

Not exactly the most natural view, but it's hard to get that in LA, and it has a nice look to it anyways. This is from the It was a good hike regardless, we scaled down the side of a small mountain in the Palisades Highlands to get to a little river valley that didn't really have a path to it. Then we walked 5-10 miles until we got to the edge of Temescal Park, and walked out near the highschool/churches there.

>>
>>887826

Am east coaster, but I've adventured in Utah, Montana, and Alaska. Scores for northeast states are reasonable, though maybe new york could be upgraded to a 4 because the 'dacks are pretty neat.
>>
>>889250
Too bad it's only that nice for two months a year
>>
>>885625
>Since you want woods, I would say the Appalachian states.
This. OP, you don't need big outdoor adventure states like Wyoming or Colorado or Alaska for what you want. If you want to hike, kayak and raise animals, you need to be in the Apps. You can get land, there's tons of national forest area where you can do what you want, and it isn't frozen half the year.
>>
>>905753
Because it's a largely-inaccessible frozen wasteland. Unless you have a helicopter dropping you off and picking you up, it's not really a practical state to do anything. Yeah, it's beautiful and has a shit ton of unspoiled nature, but it's only good in theory. 99% of the year it's just a fucking ice cube, and that one day in the middle of the summer when it's nice you can't anywhere except the big tourist destinations.
>>
>>909182
This is either a false flag or you're just really fucking stupid
>>
>>895341
Cascadian here, no the map is actually bullshit. The Whites, Blue Ridge, and Adironbacks are all beautiful mountains

i wish so many of us wernt stuck up our own ass all the time and actually left the west for once. there are amazing /out/ places on the east coast and because they arent OMFG MUH MILES IN DA SKAI!1!1!1!!!!1111!1 doesnt mean they arent beautiful in their own right. infact, east coast mountain ranges have millenias more worth nature than the west. and any true outdoorsman appreciates that more than just some big rocks.
>>
>>887797
Why no love for MA?
>>
>>903958
Where can I hike and camp in Virginia near Virginia beach?
>>
>>903956
Because as the state with the lowest percentage of publicly owned land in the USA there is actually virtually no "free roaming land" in Texas. People in Texas are known for shooting trespassers and their state government is known for defending that act. That being said if you aren't an asshole or at least check ahead most people will let you pass through but if they own a CAFO for beef or chickens they won't on the off chance you are there to eco-tage their precious meat.
