It was pouring so my jack-o'-lantern was the only light and comfort we had. The white light you can see on the sticks and leaves in this shot was actually lightning. Helluva good time ƒam.

end of summer trip, just got the photos off the camera. 44k in and out, bout 4 k elevation gain/loss. got to watch clouds roll down a valley for 3 hours and swirl below us into the night.

Yep, you don't need lots of layers when you're walking around because you get so warm, but have some extra layers in your pack when you sit down for a break.
I only had 2 layers when I was walking around, my wool baselayer with pants and jacket over that.

I don't own any, I don't really go to places where you need those. I guess they use it for glaciers and real mountaneering.

Crampons are for hard pack snow, ice and ice climbing and hiking off trail.
Traction cleats/chains (yaktrax, ice trekkers, etc) are for mixed snow/ice trail conditions.
Snowshoes for deep snow.
