1. Your brand and model of gore-tex boots?
2. For how long can you walk through wet grass or undergrowth before they're completely soaked?
North Meme Havoc GTX
15 minutes, 30 if sprayed just before.
Your boots are shit then.
My Asolo FSN95's would handle a full shift at work in the rain. My feet never got wet.
I miss those fucking boots.

I got these on sale, theyre shit

Hanwag Alaska GTX: indefinitely, at least I've yet to have them soak through even in a sustained downpour.
Asolo 535s, no GoreTex and my feet stay dry pretty much forever. Do you even beeswax m8?
I bought some One Planets for $200 because I needed them the next day but I'm looking for something a bit more waterproof. I have a wide foot, what do you suggest? I just started my season

I work at North Face. All of the boots are absolute trash. Never buy from a meme outdoors company like North Face. The only decent thing about the company is its warranty.
Salomon x alp gtx. If its not raining probably indefinitly. If Im not wearing gaitors in the rain maybe 3 hours, but thats water running down my legs. Comfy af, tho

The gore tex membrane shouldn't let any water through unless it's damaged somehow. The outer material will of course get wet sooner or later.
1. Meindl Army Pro
2. Just about forever
>>881788
1. Alt-Berg Defenders
2. Just about forever m8
I swear by A-B and Lowa boots. Great for good ol piss poor britbong climate
>>882102
Shit, missed the 'goretex' bit. My bad. I usually steer clear of goretex boots. Either way, there's my piece my dude
For those with non-leaky boots: How many miles/km do you think you've approximately put them through?

La Sportiva trango
Hours and hours in the snow high up in mountains and 0 soaking problems. They dont even get wet inside.
>>882104
Why no gore?
Timberland pro boondock, water never gets through even walking around in streams and shit.
>>881788
>gore-tex
>>881788
>soaked
Scarpa Terra:
Never got wet, even in terrible rain.
Goretex shouldn't let any water in, if it does, then it needs replacing.
>>882198
plus some brands cheat: the use small goretex membrans who cover only the lower part of the shoe.

Speaking of Asolos, I've had a pair for maybe 10 yrs but reserve for specific use and so have only worn maybe a dozen times. Last week I wore them on a hunt and the sole on one boot completely separated from the shoe. The other boot us showing sign of starting to separate. I want to rescue them, anybody have a suggestion for glue and process before I go to YouTube?
>>882177
have you ever been outside before?
or do you mostly just stick to suburban streets and boardwalk paths in parks?
>>882519
I used Shoe Goo to re-attach the front of a sole that was working its way off a boot. It's holding up so far, but they're just casual boots, not really used hard.
Danner Mountain 600 have never failed me.

Take them to a shoe repairer. It won't be expensive to get glued and they'll have specialty glues designed to bond that material and not separate when flexed. Make sure they peel back everything and reglue all the weak bonds.
If you want, you can get some shoe goo afterwards and seal up the edges to stop water getting in and weakening the bond, but I wouldn't trust it as an actual glue for something like this.
Glueing it yourself just means they have to unfuck the mess made later, trust me.

Danner master race coming through. My 453s have never leaked

What is it like working there, and how long have you been? TNF used to be a really legit brand (like, 20 years ago). Now it just seems like casual wear is their focus. All of the mountain guides I've met wear Patagonia, Rab.

Good old polyurethane hydrolysis (which seems to especially happen when you DON'T wear them), not much that can be done here desu

UNITED STATES ARMY JUNGLE BOOT
they get wet in about six steps, which is fine for me but might be a problem if youre a little bitch.
>>882832
How many confirmed kills do you have while wearing those bad boys Captain badass?
>>882832
>wearing boots like a little bitch
>not making your own shoes out of 80 grit sandpaper and broken glass
>>882832
I never really understood the appeal of those (and I'm wearing army boots too, but full leather ones)
Moisture can already enter at what looks like 5cm above ground (pic related), while the areas you're likely to sweat most in (toes and heels) are covered, makes no apparent sense to me especially in tropical, high humidity, tall wet grass areas
>>882897
..pic
>>882898
Those holes are there so that water can get out of the boot easily because in a jungle it will get inside no matter how waterproof your boots are.
>>882755
When you're right, you're right. Took them to highest rated boot repair locally, he said what you said. Also, to look for a welded rather than glued sole for my replacement.
And they died with somuch tread left...
>>883028
My favorite boots ever were full leather asolos , exact same thing happened.
